Minnesota may actually make it far this year too even though they've had disappointing playoff runs. This is one year the West might actually be relatively open.

hmm, i'm not counting too much on the flames. they have a hot streak for sure but who knows what happens when it ends. plus, their star players lack playoff experience and i'm still not too convinced about their goaltending
kings would be a team to be concerned about if they made it to the playoffs but rn it seems like they won't make it. one team i would mention as a dark horse is the lightning (again, if they make it to the playoffs) because they have the potential even without bishop, boyle and filppula |

Chuck, sure Schultz is having a great season offensively, but he has always been quite a defensive liability (and same goes for Daley). Though, I haven't seen that many PIT games this year so correct me if I'm wrong. Streit is always a step behind, since his injury last season he hasn't aged well. Ruhwedel is a 26 year-old rookie. Hainsey is decent enough, but has never played a playoff game. I don't know much about Cole and Dumoulin, but I suppose it is safe to assume that they're not game-changers.
Not saying Maatta and Letang aren't stellar defensemen, they're just injured quite often, iirc they weren't playing in 2016 playoffs. |
