My personal opinion. Feel free to comment yours below.
This was very hard because all of their albums are awesome. | 4 | | Tool 10,000 Days
A wide variety of topics are discussed on this album, which should be a good thing, but it leaves the album as a whole fantastic but lacking a bit in cohesion. It is still very much worth listening to though as Danny's drums are still fantastic with Adam's mesmerizing guitar work and Justin's bouncing bass lines. Maynard is top notch lyrically and still sounds great vocally as well.
Favorite songs; The Pot, 10,000 days and Right in Two. | 3 | | Tool Undertow
One of the angriest and emotionally draining albums I have ever heard. The sheer unbridled emotions openly on display here are one of the most impressive aspects of the album. The instrumentals are dismal and chaotic and Maynard's vocal performances are stunning. With rich poetic lyrics he paints pictures of suffering and anger like no other.
Favorite songs; Sober, Swamp Song, Intolerance | 2 | | Tool Lateralus
A monumental album often hailed as one of greatest metal albums of the 21st century, and I have to agree. Every aspect of this album is jaw dropping from the dense layered instrumentals to the cryptic lyrics to the powerful and haunting vocal melodies. Though it comes in second here number one and this album can easily be flipped flopped.
Favorite songs; The Grudge, Lateralus (duh), Parabol/Parabola | 1 | | Tool Ænima
My personal favorite album of all time. Danny Carey's drumming is complex and mathematical in the perfect way. Justin Chancellor's bass lines are captivating and hypnotic. Adam Jones' guitar work is otherworldly and some of the best I've ever heard. Maynard James Keenan gives one of the greatest vocal performances ever in my opinion on this album. His singing is beautiful his screams are terrifying and his lyrics are pure poetry. I urge you, please listen to this album.
Favorite songs; Pushit, Third Eye, H, (All of them) | |

03.10.17 | I had a real hard time digesting Undertow. It's still decent enough album, but the songs simply didn't flow as nicely or coherently as on their other works. | FullOfSounds

03.11.17 | Hmm, yes, the poetry of Hooker with a Penis. They're all Tool so...there's that, but at least the full blown namaste nonsense in Lateralus lives up to their Alex Grey artwork so that should be your number one. | neekafat
