03.10.17 | A great girl vocalist and songwriter is Joni Mitchell. Check out her album Blue. She's pretty mellow, but her talent is undeniable. Check out Lauryn Hill's album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill if you like R&B and hip hop at all. Anything by Nina Simone and Billy Holiday if you enjoy blues, soul, and jazz. I know you said non-punk but dammit the girl vocals on What Was Music? by Harry Pussy are too great. They're REALLY abrasive and sad noise rock. Oh, and try Homogenic by Bjork. Maybe Vows by Kimbra, too? I dunno, man. |

03.14.17 | If you want good ska definitely go for either Operation Ivy or really anything by Streetlight Manifesto. Also people seem divided on this but i'm a pretty big fan of "Turn the Radio Off" by Reel Big Fish. |
