| Best songs of best Metal Bands
Here is my top 10 of best songs of the most important metal/hardrock-bands, in my 'very 'umble opinion'. | 1 | Iron Maiden powerslave
The Mighty Maiden firstly, very obvious, but inevitable. Everything in this song is excellent: the intro, the riff, the lyrics, the break, the finish. | 2 | Black Sabbath Symptom of the Universe
Genius song, all members contributing to the crazy whole. The classic break into jazz/blues section ends with one ot the finest solos of mr. Iommi. | 3 | Slayer Angel of Death
Frenzy reduced to 5 minutes of pure thrashing bliss. In Germany they call this 'Epochemachend' ('Defining an Era') | 4 | Helloween We got the Right
A Life-affirming anthem featuring Kiske in a star role. Really beautifully composed, subtle but powerful and with meaningful lyrics (no dungeons and dragons) | 5 | Motorhead I am the Sword
Lemmy never sounded so moving, even though without losing his sarcasm | 6 | Megadeth Hangar 18
From their classic 'Rust in Peace', mordant lyrics combined with incredible guitar riffing and soloing. | 7 | AC/DC Overdose
Very simple, very raw, very convincing and...very true in the end...although - I am totally aware of it - it is not "metal" strictly | 8 | Dream Theater Octavarium
Maybe one of the most artistic, moving, unaffected efforts in metal to create something that is greater than the sum of it's parts. | 9 | Metallica for whom the bell tolls
Metallica has lots of great, impressive, surprising songs and this is one of them. | 10 | Judas Priest Tyrant
One of many classics by the Priest. Great harmonized vocals and great song writung. | |

02.23.17 | most of these i wouldnt agree as the best but they are all great obviously
e.g. powerslave is prob my 3rd fav maiden track, symptom of the universe in top 10 sabbath tunes etc. | danielito19
02.23.17 | Stuck in the wrong generation eh? Not including any extreme metal is pretty egregious | tastepolice
02.23.17 | ac/dc is one of the greatest metal bands | Joeman82
02.23.17 | AC/DC is one of the greatest metal bands [2] | wham49
02.23.17 | right on with 5, interesting choice for BS, one of their harder songs for sure | Madbutcher3
02.23.17 | where's grotesque though?
also idk about including Ozzy or DT personally, they're good obviously but there are better things by both artists and bands with similar styles that do it better | wham49
02.23.17 | examples butcher | Sevengill
02.23.17 | a) Where is Judas Priest?
b) Helloween for the win but it's gotta be Halloween, Eagle Fly Free, or Ride the Sky for their best song. | Madbutcher3
02.23.17 | i think octavarium is a pretty bad album compared to awake or images, would be inclined to have The Mirror or Voices from the former. As for Ozzy I think a lot of his material is pretty overrated, if I had to pick one I'd go with Bark at the Moon.
Prog metal wise I think plenty of bands have better songs than Dream Theater. I'd put Final Product by Nevermore or The Mission by Queensryche. As for Ozzy his style is a little harder to compare but I'd say Welcome Home by King Diamond or something is relatively close in style to the kinda neo-classical/nwobhm vibe | Flugmorph
02.23.17 | AC/DC is one of the greatest metal bands [3] | wham49
02.23.17 | diary of the madman from the oz man, anything from side 1, and I tend to like DT, although it is either hit or miss for me | Madbutcher3
02.23.17 | yeh i don't think ozzy or dt are bad but i would not put their songs in a top 10 metal songs list. tbf when i made a list like this it had some silly picks too but y'know | wham49
02.23.17 | ya, not my list, but has some descent picks | Itsonlyme
03.07.17 | Thanx for the comments! Always nice, Always interesting, Always subjective. Judas Priest are of course one of the founding fathers of metal, but not one of my true favourites. Same applies to Metallica. But patience: I will publish a comprehensive 'favourites'-list very soon! | KManoc1
05.12.17 | AC/DC isn't metal. |
