TASTE MY TASTE
Anyways, just tossed the ol' iPod on shuffle. Let's see what comes up today. |
1 | | Blink-182 Neighborhoods
Even If She Falls
This album gets way too much shit. It's actually quite good. This is one of the weaker songs though. It's easy to pick out the songs that Tom had a big hand in with his newfound penchant for huge choruses and tryhard lyricism. |
2 | | Mogwai Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
Death Rays
I don't know why the title of this album tickles me so much, but it certainly does. |
3 | | Disturbed Indestructible
Haunted
...meh. As a story, I once won a guitar in a random drawing at a local music store that was signed by Disturbed. But it was a really nice guitar, and I don't care that much for Disturbed, so I played it (and still do), and the signatures are totally gone. I wonder if I could have made some money off of that thing... too late now. |
4 | | Rancid Indestructible
Indestructible
Sometimes I think iPods have a weird pattern or algorithm when they're on shuffle. I mean, 17031 songs, and it just so happens to play 2 songs in a row from albums called Indestructible? Or maybe it's just that human nature thing where we try our hardest to find patterns even where there are none. |
5 | | Iron & Wine Kiss Each Other Clean
Monkeys Uptown
One day, Sam Beam is going to shave his beard, and it's going to be as monumental as when Metallica cut their hair. |
6 | | Sebastien Tellier Sexuality
Manty
When you name an album "Sexuality," it better be a sexy album. Luckily, Sebastien Tellier does not disappoint. Dirty, dirty French electro. It's kind of like R. Kelly, but without all the pee fetishin' and minor abuse. And more French. |
7 | | Three Trapped Tigers Silent Earthling
Tekkers
This album was a pleasant surprise to me. But I love it. A nice bit of electronic-tinged Post-Rock, with lots of tasty clicks and beeps. Think Ratatat, but more post-rock and less alt-rock. |
8 | | Jason Mraz Waiting For My Rocket To Come
You And I Both
I actually really, really like Jason Mraz. He's gotten a little hippie-dippie, but he's a great musician. A great singer and lyricist. This album was his "breakout," but I don't think it's really his best. Not bad, though. |
9 | | Victor Wooten Palmystery
Us 2
What an amazing bass player. |
10 | | Muse Black Holes & Revelations
City of Delusion
Ah yes, the last good Muse album. And it IS good. This song, in particular, is one of my favorites. It's not as overblown as Knights of Cydonia, which tries a little too hard IMO. This song has just the right touch of Flamenco, and has a great sense of urgency, as well as a massive chorus. The trumpet is a nice touch as well. If they ever made another Wild Arms game, this would fit right in there. |
11 | | Tool Lateralus
Lateralus
New Tool when? Also, Fibonacci music. I leave it to you to decide for yourself if that's clever as fuck or just pretentious. |
12 | | Thank You Scientist Maps of Non-Existent Places
Concrete Swan Dive
I wonder if this band would be better received if they had a different singer. That's the vibe I've gotten from Sput, at least. |
13 | | Streetlight Manifesto Somewhere in the Between
Somewhere in the Between
AND SOMEDAY SOON, MY FRIEND
THIS RIDE WILL COME TO AN END
BUT WE CAN'T JUST GET IN LINE AGAIN |
14 | | Florence and the Machine Lungs
Howl
Florence has the voice of an angel. |
15 | | Nine Inch Nails Year Zero
Another Version of the Truth
Underrated album. |
16 | | Mae Singularity
Sic Semper Tyrannis
Underrated band. |
17 | | The American Dollar Atlas
Age of Wonder
Whoa, I forgot about this band. This is a great album though. More electronic-tinged Post-Rock. |
18 | | Motion City Soundtrack My Dinosaur Life
Her Words Destroyed My Planet
Personal favorite MCS album. They just nailed the shit out of this one. Catchy, not too saccharine or overblown. Just a very, very good album. |
19 | | Mastodon Blood Mountain
Colony of Birchmen
This is actually the first Mastodon song I ever heard. Thanks, Rock Band! I really love the solo in this song. Not even so much for the solo itself, just for that entire section of the song. |
20 | | BABYMETAL BABYMETAL
Catch Me If You Can
Fite me. |
21 | | Arcade Fire The Suburbs
Deep Blue
New Arcade Fire when? |
22 | | Giant Squid The Ichthyologist
Rubicon Wall (Acipenser Transmontanus)
Post-Metal for the Post-Metal Gods. |
23 | | Matchbox Twenty More Than You Think You Are
The Difference
This is actually a great pop-rock album. I saw these guys back in 7th grade. It was my first date. SO MUCH GAME. |
24 | | Placebo Sleeping With Ghosts
Plasticine
Boy, does this guy's voice take some getting used to. |
25 | | Sublime 40 Oz. to Freedom
Live At E's
RIP Bradley Nowell. One time when I was out at dinner, some guy stopped me and told me I look like Rome from Sublime with Rome. I have never listened to Sublime with Rome, and I have no idea what he looks like. I don't know if that was a compliment or not. |
26 | | Zebrahead Phoenix
Be Careful What You Wish For
I gave these guys a lot of shit on the last list like this I made, but this album is actually pretty darn good. This is where the new singer finally "got it," I think. |
27 | | Minus the Bear Infinity Overhead
Diamond Lightning
I really, really like this album. I feel like it's pretty underrated. |
28 | | The Used In Love and Death
I'm A Fake
This band has aged surprisingly well. There are a lot of bands I used to listen to back in High School that I'm pretty lukewarm on now, but the Used are still great.
LOVE IS NOT LIKE ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY A FUCKING KNIFE! |
29 | | Owl City Ocean Eyes
Hello Seattle
Not the best album, but there are a few great songs on it. This is one of them. |
30 | | Alter Bridge Blackbird
White Knuckles
Damn, I love this album. They were firing on all cylinders here. Not as into their other stuff, but this one is great. |
31 | | The Slackers Redlight
You Must Be Good
I always associate this album with GTAIV because I got them at the same time, and listened to it a whole lot the first time I played that game. They mix oddly well anyways. |
32 | | Less Than Jake B Is For B-sides
National Anthem
This B-Sides album is better than some of their full-lengths. |
33 | | LCD Soundsystem This Is Happening
One Touch
CLICKS & BEEPS |
34 | | Autopilot Off Make A Sound
Chromatic Fades
Whatever happened to these guys? This was a great album, a shining gem for sure. I heard of them because of SSX3, haha. |
35 | | The Dead Weather Sea of Cowards
I Can't Hear You
This song's got a nice groove. |
36 | | Patrick Stump Truant Wave
Spotlight (Oh, Nostalgia)
Mr. Stump is quite the singer. Too bad he got shit on for his solo career. And Fall out Boy has just been shitty ever since they got back together. |
37 | | Ninja Sex Party Under the Covers
Jump
Cover albums are generally maligned, but this one is actually pretty good. I'm contemplating doing a review for it, but I haven't written a review in like 5 years now. |
38 | | Green Day Dookie
Emenius Sleepus
This album is a good album. |
39 | | Relient K Mmhmm
Who I Am Hates Who I've Been
Relient K have always kind of been a hit or miss band for me, but this song is pretty great. |
40 | | Explosions In The Sky and David Wingo Prince Avalanche
An Old Peasant Like Me
I haven't seen this movie, and have no idea what it's about, but the soundtrack is beautiful. |
41 | | Gunship Gunship
Fly For Your Life
One of those bands I never would have heard of if it weren't for Sputnik. So, thanks Sputbros! |
42 | | Goonies Never Say Die In a Forest Without Trees
Don't Fight the Fire, Fuck the Arsonist
Good, underrated album. If you like Post-Rocka nd haven't heard this, check it out! |
43 | | The Decemberists What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World
Lake Song
Why do I feel like Colin Meloy belongs to a different generation? |
44 | | Head Automatica Popaganda
Shot in the Back (the Platypus)
I really, really wish we could get that 3rd Head Automatica album. |
45 | | Los Lonely Boys Los Lonely Boys
Hollywood
This is such a chill jame. |
46 | | DangerDoom The Mouse And The Mask
Bada Bing
This album shouldn't work anywhere near as well as it does. |
47 | | Bomb the Music Industry! Album Minus Band.
Blow Your Brains Out on Live TV!!!
Jeff Rosenstock is my spirit animal. |
48 | | Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Descension
Key Entity Extraction V: Sentry the Defiant
I don't really care much for the "concept" behind Coheed & Cambria, since it's batshit bonkers. Though I really like the concept behind the Afterman albums because it's much more concise and easier to digest. Too bad the music isn't as good. But this song is pretty great. |
49 | | Blink-182 Blink-182
Violence
This album is too important to me as a person. |
50 | | Ratatat Ratatat
Bustelo
This album is so groovy. Lots of bass, lots of clicks and beeps, lots of tasty jammy jams. |
