| Frank Turner Live
Saw Frank Turner live last night for the third time now. Was a fantastic concert and the dude is still a super chill guy. It had everything from a wall of hugs (in place of a wall of death) to an impromptu Satch Boogie cover, along with some crowd requests and a solid atmosphere. Below is the setlist; other than the possible excessive amount of tracks from PSFNP can't really complain, had all the classics in there and some personal favourites. | 1 | | Frank Turner Love, Ire & Song
I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous | 2 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
The Next Storm - The whole crowd lost their shit when this came on, not really sure why but it was a sight to behold | 3 | | Frank Turner England Keep My Bones
I Still Believe | 4 | | Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
Losing Days | 5 | | Frank Turner Poetry of the Deed
Try This At Home - the circle pit kind of engulfed everyone for this, was awesome haha though also painful for those like myself that were caught completely off guard | 6 | | Frank Turner Love, Ire & Song
Long Live The Queen | 7 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Glorious You | 8 | | Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
Polaroid Picture | 9 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Silent Key | 10 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Love Forty Down | 11 | | Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
The Way I Tend To Be | 12 | | Frank Turner Sleep Is For The Week
Worse Things Happen At Sea (crowd request) - I lost my shit for this one, so happy he played it | 13 | | Frank Turner The First Three Years
Nashville Tennassee (crowd request) | 14 | | Frank Turner Sleep Is For The Week
The Ballad of Me and My Friends (crowd request) - Always amazing live | 15 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
The Opening Act of Spring - Actually came across way better live than on the record | 16 | | Frank Turner England Keep My Bones
Redemption - Apparently he hasn't played this in ages, so was especially epic, a personal favourite, shredded my vocal chords to this | 17 | | Frank Turner England Keep My Bones
If Ever I Stray - Frank's near naked friend, Steve, who apparently used to drive the van for Frank's first band, crowd surfed for the majority of the song and in doing so became the King of Leeds, for some reason. | 18 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Out of Breath | 19 | | Frank Turner Love, Ire & Song
Photosynthesis - Featuring the wall of hugs | 20 | | Frank Turner Love, Ire & Song
Love, Ire & Song (encore) | 21 | | Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
Recovery (encore) - one of my favourites live | 22 | | Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Get Better (encore) | 23 | | Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
Four Simple Words (encore) - always a fun one to end on. | |

12.02.16 | Still kind of wished that he played Farther's Day and Plain Sailing Weather, but otherwise it was basically flawless. Good job Frank | AngryJohnny
12.02.16 | one of the best live acts I've seen. His Nottingham Rock City show last year was brilliant. Pretty cool that you got to see him play Redemption and Love, Ire and Song. Haven't caught those live myself. | AsleepInTheBack
12.02.16 | Agreed. The second time I saw him he played Love, Ire and Song as a request which was pretty awesome, but that meant him playing it this time wasn't as special. Redemption was fantastic though, he finished it and then said something along the lines of 'Wow, haven't played that one it a while, I should do that more often' and then thanked the crowd for reacting so well. | AngryJohnny
12.02.16 | Maybe next time I'll get lucky and see it. I have seen him play To Take You Home and The Real Damage on separate occasions though, both great. I hate it when artists play the exact same set every night of a tour, safe to say Frank puts in a bit more effort than that | NorwichScene
12.02.16 | I've seem him 3 times too. First he was very drunk, but glad that didn't put me off as the following 2 times (now's he's t-total) have been brilliant!
Worse Things Happen At Sea is one of my fav's | AsleepInTheBack
12.02.16 | Envious that you got to hear To Take You Home and The Real Damage, love those.
Huh, didn't know he'd gone sober. Fair play to him, every show I've been to he's seemed sober and they've been fantastic. | BlushfulHippocrene
12.04.16 | Sounds insane, man, glad he performed some stuff from Sleep is for the Week. What was the wall of hugs like? Was it sort of just a crowd of people bunched up together? Finding it so hard to imagine, but sounds like fun. | AsleepInTheBack
12.04.16 | @Jom yeah it was the most intimate gig I've seen him at, was particularly special for that reason
@Blushful yeah the older song really made the night for me I think. The wall of hugs was a bit of a mess haha, both sides of the room ran at each other as if it were a wall of death but then everyone just hugged the closest stranger they could find, so it did end up being a bunched up crowd of hugging people in the end. Was really silly but an awesome moment. He made a short speech about how this year has sucked with Brexit and Trump and rising intolerance etc. and that we should all just be kind to everyone regardless of anything, solid message and a fun way to embrace it. | BlushfulHippocrene
12.04.16 | Yeah, that's so neat. It sounds like a fun crowd, so positive. I can imagine people shouting along to his songs, too, a lot of them warrant that. | FullOfSounds
12.04.16 | How did I know this was going to be an Asleep list lmao.
Glad you had fun man | AsleepInTheBack
12.04.16 | Yeah, love the experience of everyone shouting out in unison. Was a really life affirming concert
Thanks man. Haha didn't know I had that much of a rep as a Frank fan boy, but I'll take it happily |
