10.18.16 | Bump.
Also, I haven't used html since I was pimping out my Myspace profile in 2006. How the hell do I insert line breaks in the List Description? |
pjquinones747
10.18.16 | Architects. RIP to their late guitarists but I wasn't impressed by the new album. Periphery as well. I had a feeling it would be bad so I wouldn't say I was surprised but it was still a disappointment. |
pjquinones747
10.18.16 | DGD and TDWP as well. Almost every band that I listened to in high school I guess. The list goes on. |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | Which one broke your heart the most? Which were you most excited for? |
Archelirion
10.18.16 | Plebeian Grandstand for me. It wasn't bad, as such, but just really uniform and a bit of an effort to get through compared to their earlier stuff. My review (hopefully) articulates it better. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.18.16 | there have been a lot of disappointments from otherwise amazing bands this year |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | I agree, but what sucked the most ass, Potsy? |
anat
10.18.16 | I get what WB were trying to do but they're muuuuch better at the art-rock meanderings of Two Dancers and Smother and I hope next time round they ditch the drum machines |
Trebor.
10.18.16 | "DGD and TDWP as well. Almost every band that I listened to in high school I guess. The list goes on."
seems like you just need to start evolving your taste dude |
Futures
10.18.16 | every time i die. |

10.18.16 | lol Trebor
anatelier, I think we discussed this and I couldn't agree more. I just remember them posting the artwork for this and was immediately wondering what the hell they were going to release. I didn't expect anything that underwhelming. |
anat
10.18.16 | My addition to the list would probably be M83, Junk is a blemish on a sturdy discog |
Deez
10.18.16 | Word on plebeian grandstand. Was so hypedfor that record and was the one that came to me instantly also the new cough was utterly mundane. There where many disappointments this year for me but they luckily got lost in a sea of general awesomeness. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.18.16 | Radioheads new album fucking pissed me off. Other things that disappointed me to various degrees (dont get me wrong some are still great, just not nearly as great as I'd like) are new Jenny Hval, De La Soul, Glass Animals, Frank Ocean, Wild Beasts, DM Stith, Avalanches, Blood Orange, Kayo Dot, Four Tet, Beyonce, M83, Moderat, Open Mike Eagle and Paul White, Polica, Prince Rama, Flume, Rome Fortune, Animal Collective, CFCF, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Hexvessel, Tricky, and Arrested Development |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.18.16 | oh and mick jenkins |
kris.
10.18.16 | ok by the fall of troy was pretty disappointing tbh. those dudes should've stayed broken up. |
anat
10.18.16 | oh yeah +1 for Animal Collective, album is ass-piss |
Sinternet
10.18.16 | let's see
i had fairly high hopes for TLOP but it was meh
I enjoyed M.I.A.'s latest but it was a big drop from Matangi
Clams Casino was disappointing
Aesop Rock's album was so boring
Moon Shaped Pool
m83
yeah there were loads |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | Radiohead it is, Pots. I envy the amount of music you listen to, but not so much the correlating amount of disappointment you must go through as a result. |
SandwichBubble
10.18.16 | Islands - Taste was probably the most disappointing. Not the worst though. |
Deez
10.18.16 | Flatbush zombies too and yeah good shout on Kayo dot pots, one of my fave bands but just cannot get into that album, shame |
Sinternet
10.18.16 | oh yeah +1 for animal collective, mick jenkins, fall of troy, beyonce |
MyNameIsPencil
10.18.16 | radiohead moon shaped pool [2]
didn't listen to it until later on and was excited to due to the hype. But I found it pretty bland |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | Fall of Troy sucked hard indeed. |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | Didn't even know there was new Clams. |
MyNameIsPencil
10.18.16 | and dgd - mothership cause it was just overly safe and makes me kinda want them to move on from tillian |
dbizzles
10.18.16 | I'm lazy, try to keep your selection as your absolute worst. I'll add honorable mentions at the end of the year, like right now Animal Collective isn't anyone's sole disappointment, but I was there for the site-wide sigh when it came out. |
kris.
10.18.16 | yea i wanted to be wowed by frank ocean so badly and it didn't do shit for me |
Sinternet
10.18.16 | i'll go for TLOP as my pick |
theBoneyKing
10.18.16 | PJ Harvey - The Hope Six Demolition Project
It was still a very good album but just not up to the very high standards that PJ has set for herself. |
Mystletainn
10.18.16 | Lsd and the search for God - heaven is a place
Is my disappointment because it's shit |
JeetJeet
10.18.16 | The Sun's Tirade by Isaiah Rashad. Its not bad but it certainly isn't as amazing as his previous effort. |
Frippertronics
10.18.16 | kayo dot - plastic house on base of sky |
ashcrash9
10.18.16 | Preoccupations I guess
Loved the last record but their new one is a chore, didn't really dig it at all tbh |
demigod!
10.18.16 | 5 |
Ryus
10.18.16 | radiohead, tim hecker, bon iver, frank ocean, avalanches, m83, goat, banks, aine o'dwyer, preoccupations, elysia crampton, raime, the field, animal collective, kanye west
not all bad, just inferior to previous works |
Storm In A Teacup
10.18.16 | By music measurements, this year is far from over. |
AdoreSwancore
10.19.16 | Hands Like Houses - Dissonants. I was never a super big fan of their work but I had always enjoyed their previous releases, so when they kept pushing this album back for months to "make sure they got everything right" I naively allowed myself to get my hopes up for it.... So I was very disappointed with just how painfully mediocre of a release it was. |
JokineAugustus
10.19.16 | Put me down for 3 |
Tyler.
10.19.16 | Just about everything tbh |
Koris
10.19.16 | Bon Iver - 22, A Million |
Snake.
10.19.16 | The Hotelier - Goodness
all of the hype that led to this album was enormous and i was stoked to hear what was presumably home like no place 2.0. it wasn't a bad album per se but the album's content pales in comparison to anything off of home, whether it's emotion, instrumentation, vocals, etc. it's pretty frustrating because there is a lot of potential for the album to hit spectacular climaxes but the band members never even bother for the buildups to even take off. it's also really frustrating when the best song off of this album is a remastered version of a song that they've made previously. |
YakNips
10.19.16 | new yndi halda was a huge let down |
FullOfSounds
10.19.16 | Radiohead for sure. Solid album still |
AlexKzillion
10.19.16 | TLOP [70892347089423089754379805243]
Oh yeah and Periphery III |
TVC15
10.19.16 | Darkthrone - Arctic Thunder
Tundra Leech is a fantastic song and it keeps the tradition of Darkthrone openers being kickass, but the rest of the album just didn't live up to the hype well to me. It's cool they're coming back to black metal and I hope they expand on the new sound more |
dbizzles
10.19.16 | updated |
Judio!
10.19.16 | Moon Shaped Pool was the biggest disappointment of the year for me I'd say |
dbizzles
10.19.16 | Maybe I'll update each album with their avg rating. Might be interesting. |
GreyShadow
10.19.16 | HLH - Dissonants was extremely upsetting, especially with first single I Am, being pretty awesome. I was excited to embrace this more standard alt-rock approach but it's just too damn boring/unoriginal and they think they can get away with it because of a sick bass tone. And the vocals are just so uninspired. |
Polyethylene
10.19.16 | I thought I'd love Mark Pritchard's album, but it turned out almost as blandly forgettable as Tycho's r.i.p |
ellagos
10.19.16 | letlive's latest was a ridiculously huge misstep |
SharkTooth
10.19.16 | Goat - Requiem
OneRepublic - Oh My My |
ArsMoriendi
10.19.16 | Moon Shaped Pool - was hoping for something more experimental and electronic...
Wildflower - was so boring compared to Since I Left You
Head Carrier - well actually I wasn't even expecting this to be good, but I'm just disappointed that Pixies got back together just to make shit. |
24gadjet
10.19.16 | New Periphery
|
dbizzles
10.19.16 | I still never got the hype for Periphery. Never thought their debut or their eps were anything better than just okay and it has just gotten worse and worse since then, imo. Didn't even bother with the new one and only heard AO once. Not for me. |
TVC15
10.19.16 | Oh My My was a huge disappointment agreed. Either they need to get a better producer or move to a different record label cos their full on pop direction does not suit their style in the slightest regardless of the waves of money they're now making with a way more commercial sound |
AlexKzillion
10.19.16 | New Periphery [8241284] |
24gadjet
10.19.16 | for me I listened to Periphery purely for Halpern cos groovez, always hated the vocalist with a passion though |
rabidfish
10.19.16 | Chance the rapper - Coloring book
I liked acid rap quite a bit and was mostly disappointed by this new mixtape. It didn't feel fresh as AR did, it was a little too safe for my liking. |
Storm In A Teacup
10.19.16 | Chevelle - some generic metal album, don't remember the name even and I 5'd 1/3rd of their discography |
furyroad97
10.19.16 | M.I.A. - AIM |
50iL
10.19.16 | 9 was extremely disappointing for me too. |
wwf
10.19.16 | Deftones - Gore so hard |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
10.19.16 | >having expectations of deftones |
judasgoat
10.19.16 | "Chevelle - some generic metal album, don't remember the name even and I 5'd 1/3rd of their discography"
This. They sacrificed a lot of the melody that made their earlier albums great for being HEAVY!!!11111!!!1!1!!!!11!!!!!!2
Also the new AJJ album. They just sound so anonymous now, and Bonnette does his "I was a/I am a" verses way too much. |
wwf
10.19.16 | really tho what is the new chevelle's name
was it the north corridor? or was that the album before
ok I got that name right but I wouldn't have been able to describe what the album art looks like in a million years |
ashcrash9
10.19.16 | yeah the new Chevelle was lame af too, but so was the one before that, so I was kinda prepared for them to continue that stupid "heavy" trajectory |
wwf
10.19.16 | btw I don't actually think the new chevelle is a disappointment btw, I liked it quite a bit the few times I listened to it earlier this year and I like it far more than the two before it |
0GuyMan0
10.19.16 | Nonpoint - The Poison Red
I'm a classic NP fan and always hope that they'll hit another one out of the park (like they did with their 2010 s/t, unexpectedly), but this is not that. This is striking the fuck out. |
dbizzles
10.19.16 | Updated. Sorry for any roasts, but I've heard most of these additions or am at least familiar with their work. Don't take any of it personal- my contribution is a shitty pop album called Boy King, so....... |
0GuyMan0
10.22.16 | If you don't jam to hard rock sometimes then Nonpoint ain't for you. coming of age in peak nu-metal time, though, Nonpoint clearly stood apart from the rest with tons of energy and a charismatic frontman. |
dbizzles
10.22.16 | Yeah, I get it. Didn't mean to be harsh. |
Evreaia
10.22.16 | new Hexvessel for sure.
I haven't really heard to much albums this year, but that's one that I'll never be jamming again. |
DoofusWainwright
10.22.16 | Has to be Animal Collective - Painting With
Amazed it isn't already on the list, for a quote check my review of the album.
'Boy King' is 'Dark Side of the Moon' compared to that one |
dbizzles
10.22.16 | Yeah, it was pretty fucking bad. Couple decent tracks, but that's it. |
cman23kid
10.30.16 | Chevelle's latest is pretty fuckin good tbh
A better example of a generic heavy/alt metal band would be Hellyeah's new album. |
dbizzles
11.13.16 | Thrice should be on here. |
