User's 2016 Disappointment List

Sorry for a negative post (that i'm sure has been done before) but, we are nearing the end of the year and as I was on my afternoon commute today I listen to 2014's Present Tense by Wild Beasts and was immediately reminded about how disappointing the new album was for me earlier this year. In the comments, list your one absolute most disappointing album and maybe a little sound off as to why it shit in your Cheerios and I will add it to the list. I'm curious to see what has Sputnik feeling let down the most this year. I know we have a lot of forthcoming releases before the end of the year so if the list is at all successful, just comment your updated most disappointing pile of shit and I'll do my best to keep the list up-to-date.
1Wild Beasts
Boy King

This album was a complete 180 from its predecessor in that Present Tense took everything I loved about Wild Beasts over the years and made it better or at least as good and Boy King took pretty much all of the best parts of the band's songwriting/style and abandoned it for no good fucking reason.

There are a couple redeeming songs on here, but I haven't listened to this in so long due to its betrayal that I can't even name them off the top of my head. There's still hope. The band has another Two Dancers or Smother in them, I'm sure. Let's hope these guys got this out of their system because they're way better at crafting beautiful, unique tracks than what I've heard some refer to as 'bangers.'

False Highs, True Lows

Users: Archelirion, deezer666

' It wasn't bad, as such, but just really uniform and a bit of an effort to get through compared to their earlier stuff. My review (hopefully) articulates it better.' - Archelerion

'' - deezer666
At least the title is fitting, eh? Eh?
3Every Time I Die
Low Teens

User: Futures, JokineAugustus

I kind of dug some of it, but I was never invested enough to be disappointed.
4M83
Junk

User: anatelier

'Junk is a blemish on a sturdy discog'

Another appropriate album title, I suppose.
5Radiohead
A Moon Shaped Pool

Users: LordePots, MyNameIsPencil, Full of Sounds, Judio!

'Radioheads new album fucking pissed me off.' - Potsy

'didn't listen to it until later on and was excited to due to the hype. But I found it pretty bland' - Pencil

I don't think you're alone.
6The Fall of Troy
OK

User: Kris.

'those dudes should've stayed broken up.'

I think they released more than one OK, but the first sucked enough that I haven't heard anything else.
7Islands
Taste

User: SandwichBubble

'Taste was probably the most disappointing. Not the worst though.'
8Architects
All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us

User: pjquinones747

Hollow Crown was cool. When I was 19. Never cared to check for more afterward. Not big on this type of metalcore, tbh.
9Kanye West
The Life of Pablo

Users: Sinternet, Arcade, TheMrAlexK

I was hoping for some scathing criticism on this one :)
10PJ Harvey
The Hope Six Demolition Project

User: TheBoneyKing

'It was still a very good album but just not up to the very high standards that PJ has set for herself.'
11LSD and the Search for God
Heaven Is a Place

User: Mystletainn

'Is my disappointment because it's shit'
12Isaiah Rashad
The Sun's Tirade

User: JeeJeet

'Its not bad but it certainly isn't as amazing as his previous effort.'
13Kayo Dot
Plastic House on Base of Sky

User: Frippertronics

Fucking terrible, agreed. I could barely get through it.
14Preoccupations
Preoccupations

User: ashcrash9

'Loved the last record but their new one is a chore, didn't really dig it at all tbh'

Definitely not as good as the debut, but I found stuff I liked. I did expect better.
15Hands Like Houses
Dissonants

Users: AdoreSwancore, GreyShadow

'I was never a super big fan of their work but I had always enjoyed their previous releases, so when they kept pushing this album back for months to "make sure they got everything right" I naively allowed myself to get my hopes up for it.... So I was very disappointed with just how painfully mediocre of a release it was.' - AdoreSwancore

'Dissonants was extremely upsetting, especially with first single I Am, being pretty awesome. I was excited to embrace this more standard alt-rock approach but it's just too damn boring/unoriginal and they think they can get away with it because of a sick bass tone. And the vocals are just so uninspired.' - GreyShadow
16Bon Iver
22, A Million

User: SoccerRiot
17The Hotelier
Goodness

User: SnakeDelilah

'all of the hype that led to this album was enormous and i was stoked to hear what was presumably home like no place 2.0. it wasn't a bad album per se but the album's content pales in comparison to anything off of home, whether it's emotion, instrumentation, vocals, etc. it's pretty frustrating because there is a lot of potential for the album to hit spectacular climaxes but the band members never even bother for the buildups to even take off. it's also really frustrating when the best song off of this album is a remastered version of a song that they've made previously.'

Old dicks and hanging titties. I didn't think their previous album was all that great, but considering what I heard from this, I understand the disappointment. Seems like a lot of users will disagree with both us though.
18Yndi Halda
Under Summer

User: YakNips

Heard this once. Thought is was pretty okay. Never heard any other material, but if this was disappointing to fans, I should probably take a look back at older stuff.
19Minor Victories
Minor Victories

User: sixdegrees
20Darkthrone
Arctic Thunder

User: TVC15

'Tundra Leech is a fantastic song and it keeps the tradition of Darkthrone openers being kickass, but the rest of the album just didn't live up to the hype well to me. It's cool they're coming back to black metal and I hope they expand on the new sound more'
21Mark Pritchard
Under the Sun

User: Polyethylene

'I thought I'd love Mark Pritchard's album, but it turned out almost as blandly forgettable as Tycho's r.i.p'

If I'm the Devil...

User: ellagos

'a ridiculously huge misstep'

I thought all of their albums were missteps, but they have a pretty sizeable fan base, at least where I live. So what do I know?
23Periphery
Periphery III: Select Difficulty

User: 24gadjet
24Chance the Rapper
Coloring Book

User: rabidfish

'I liked acid rap quite a bit and was mostly disappointed by this new mixtape. It didn't feel fresh as AR did, it was a little too safe for my liking.'

I haven't heard this, but I've been meaning to. Acid Rap had some cool shit.
25Chevelle
The North Corridor

Users: Storm In A Teacup, judasgoat

'some generic metal album, don't remember the name even and I 5'd 1/3rd of their discography'

Funny, because your immediate description would fit their entire discog for me if I didn't have weird nostalgic feelings for Wonder What's Next and TTOT(BLAHBLAHBLAH.)
26Deftones
Gore

User: wwf

'so hard'

Pretty shit if I do say so myself, but after hearing it I realized I had probably overrated Koi No Yokan and maybe Deftones altogether. The nostalgia escapes me.
27Nonpoint
The Poison Red

User: 0GuyMan0

'I'm a classic NP fan and always hope that they'll hit another one out of the park (like they did with their 2010 s/t, unexpectedly), but this is not that. This is striking the fuck out.'

No offense, but I can't recall if I have ever heard Nonpoint or if I did and it was so generic and forgettable that I can't even say one way or another. I think it was the latter, but different strokes for different blokes. Some people here seriously like Carly Rae Jepsen.... not that there's anything wrong with that.
28Hexvessel
When We Are Death

User: Evreaia

'I haven't really heard to much albums this year, but that's one that I'll never be jamming again.'
29Animal Collective
Painting With

User: DoofusWainright

'If 'Strawberry Jam' captured the band at their most technicolor, as reflected by the album's gaudy sleeve, then the predominantly beige tones of 'Painting With's cover speak volumes. Someone's stolen half of the boys' crayons.'
