10.12.16 | I was considering doing a list, but I guess I'll just talk about it here. My ranking in
1. Happiness (it's a perfect record, not much else to say)
2. S/T (Will and Zach are fucking phenominal on this album)
3. DBMII (This is the most zany, fun DGD album)
4. Acceptance Speech (My first DGD album. Nostalgia's a bitch)
5. Instant Gratification (Great album, but it's really back heavy)
6. DBM (Aside from the classics, this album is only above average)
7. Mothership (very incomplete, but decent) |
Futures
10.12.16 | DBM is the best |
YakNips
10.12.16 | my ranking is literally their discog in chronological order
royal ocean > dbm > s/t > happiness > dbm ii > ac > ig > poop |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @YakNips well that's certainly 'convenient' I guess, hopefully that trend doesn't continue for you with their future releases though. |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @futures yeah there's very little between the DBMs for me but 2 will always have the edge over 1 for me. |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @Danred AS was my first DGD album as well. |
Danred97
10.12.16 | @AdoreSwancore I just wish the production was better. Will has so many great guitar parts, and the production just buries it. |
Tyler.
10.12.16 | Dbm2 is best |
Danred97
10.12.16 | @Tyler It's definitely a fun romp with very eclectic musicianship, but the Kurt era albums are just to good imo. |
SteakByrnes
10.12.16 | For me it goes
Happiness > DBM2 > IG > Mothership> S/T > DBM > Acceptance Speech |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @Danred yeah AS would just really appreciate a re-recording. |
Danred97
10.12.16 | seeing AS that low hurts, but I get it. Like I said, a lot of it is nostalgia. RWHH pt.4 was my first DGD song. Still remember my first reaction to it was "is this a man or a woman?" |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | You sure it wasn't more like "is this a man or a woman or a high pitched robot?" |
G0atC0re
10.12.16 | yeah, not how I would rank them. All their albums are decent, pretty interchangeable. |
G0atC0re
10.12.16 | Kurt albums are the best. |
MyNameIsPencil
10.12.16 | hmm, as of late I would have to say
Downtown Battle Mountain II
Happiness = Whatever You Say is Royal Ocean
Downtown Battle Mountain
Instant Gratification
Self-Titled
Acceptance Speech
Mothership |
Kosko
10.12.16 | I rank them in reverse of release date. Mothership being the best followed by IG then AS, then all Johnny's stuff, then Kurt's stuff. I can't honestly can't understand why people find his work with the band to be the best. Is it because it's in a lower range with simpler melodies making it easier to sing along to? Let's be real, Kurt and Johnny could never perform the new stuff, let alone write it. |
GreyShadow
10.12.16 | Tilian fan before DGD fan but here:
1 Mothership
2 Instant Gratification/Acceptance Speech (IG feels like a better album in terms of structure, but AS has some wonderful highlights irdk which I prefer)
3 Happiness
4 DBM
5 Self-Titled
6 DMB II
I'm definitely going to listen to their older stuff more in the coming weeks so we'll see how this holds |
Minnesota
10.12.16 | 9. happiness
8. self titled
7. whatever i say is royal ocean
6. instant gratification
5. dbm2
4. dbm
3. mothership
2. tree city sessions
1. acceptance speech |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @minnesota I'm guessing your just a generally tilian>Jonny>Kurt kind of guy? |
AdoreSwancore
10.12.16 | @GreyShadow given that you already have DBM around the middle of your list you should probably check out "Whatever I say is Royal Ocean" whilst your at it, you might like it. |
East Hastings
10.12.16 | 1. s/t
2. instant gratification
3. acceptance speech
4. DBM
5. mothership
6. happiness
7. DBM 2 |
chinesewhispers
10.12.16 | DBM is their best followed by Happiness
oh yeah what do you guys think is their best record from a guitar standpoint? |
SmileNerd
10.14.16 | I agree with this ranking except switch Instant Gratification with Mothership. |
Get Low
04.26.19 | AdoreJonnycore
2 is 1; but regardless, I'm glad someone else agrees that Jonny is best. Too many Kurt Cucks and Tillian Turds on this site. |
SteakByrnes
04.26.19 | ew I forgot this list existed |
Danred97
04.26.19 | Honestly they have 4 albums that are interchangeable for me as their best. Probably why their arguably my favorite band though. |
Get Low
04.26.19 | Swancore doesn't know that Artificial Selection exists yet. |
Danred97
04.26.19 | True, and that one is arguably their best |
Get Low
04.26.19 | My least favorite, but you know, subjective opinions. |
Danred97
04.26.19 | Yeah imo ArSe, IG, DBM2, and Happiness could all conceivably be their best. They flip flop a lot with me though |
Get Low
04.26.19 | IG is the bomb. Tillian's best work. |
Danred97
04.26.19 | IG is probably my favorite, mostly since it was the first DGD album I was hyped for when it was announced. Not a bad track on it. |
Get Low
04.26.19 | Not a bad track, and those hooks are sooooo catchy. |
SteakByrnes
04.26.19 | IG owns hard, best Tilian album |
CygnusX1
04.26.19 | Love Happiness but Tilian got me good on Mothership. Tilian > Kurt > Johnny eras |
thatbandsucks
04.03.20 | name: adoreswancore
list: Happiness at 8 and DTBMII at 1
plot twist: this actually makes sense because blue swan records was the worst thing that could ever happen to the niche genre |
