LotusFlower 08.12.16	I like elephant more than alp because I like the general feel of the record a lot more, even though both are more or less perfect. You just can't beat that feel you get when you hear the drum kick off in crushed bones. And 7 is pretty sweet, the first track rocks hard.

Typhoon24 08.13.16	i dont think it's "Definitive hip hop." it's too experimental to be considered that. it's technically even alternative hip hop. I'd prolly pick eric b and rakim and gang starr if we're talking hip hop gold standards in that sense. Not talking influence either since outkast wasn't nearly as influential as the guys on the coasts i define gold standard as the upper echelon of albums the genre. this one got an A for being one of the strangest yet accessible quality records in the 90s.

LotusFlower 08.13.16	@Hal, haven't heard many southern rappers outside of essentials like... DJ Screw? I do have a lot of albums from artists in that area on my 'to listen' list. This song rocks though. @typhoon, got a bitch ass taste i suppose. I have just barely started looking into the 90s and before for hip hop... along with a lot of music since my taste has always centered around modern stuff until a while back. I just take whatever is good. I dont really want to let release dates dictate what I'd see as the level of quality for every record as that just seems limiting. And I don't know enough about the genre and culture as a whole to make bold statements of which eras are better (disregarding my YG comment in the list).
