10 Cool Thrice Moments
I thought it might be neat to share some of my favorite moments from Thrice's discography with their latest album coming out in a few days. Though I find their verses and choruses really memorable most of the time, the moments that have stuck out most to me are often the intros and outros of the songs where they mix it up musically. |

T&C, 2:33-3:10. It's a silly and fun dueling guitar solo but it's probably my favorite moment from Identity Crisis. |

The Illusion of Safety
In Years to Come, 1:55-2:16. The climactic vocal delivery of this song gives me chills every time. Dustin's lyrics are also on point: "until I stop breathing my lungs will take you for granted." |

Where Idols Once Stood, 0:58-1:30. Riley (on the drums) really mixes it up on the second verse and when everything cuts out and Dustin shouts, "I'LL DRAW THE SHADES AND STAY INSIDE," it's damn powerful. |

The Artist in the Ambulance
Blood Clots and Black Holes, 1:58-2:27. Writing a line like, "to be at peace would be a sin and surely un-American," in 2003 and have it still be perfectly relevant today is great on its own, but the section after this chorus is a breakdown that extends its pause as it progresses by going from 5/8, to 6/8, to 7/8, and back into 4/4. |

The Earth Will Shake, 2:52-3:23. Of course this part has to be included. The chain-gang inspired singing of the chorus is ingenious and it's still one of the most powerful moments I've ever experienced at a show. |

Of Dust and Nations, 3:23-4:35. Here's another one of Thrice's most memorable moments. This song's outro goes on for a while but it's so captivating and easy to get lost in. |

Firebreather, 0:00-0:38. This is not only Thrice's best opening track, but probably one of their best song intros, period. The production and odd time signatures (alternating between a 5/8 and a 6/8) are the perfect introduction to the Fire EP and the Alchemy Index as a whole. |

The Alchemy Index Vols. III & IV
Daedalus, 3:30-4:08. This song is divided into two parts: the first is Daedalus addressing his son, and the second is him lamenting his loss. This instrumental segment in between, primarily driven by Ed and Riley (bass and drums) is where everything falls apart for Icarus. It all fits together perfectly and the song as a whole is a masterpiece. |

Beggars
Beggars, 3:43-5:04. What a way to end an album! Beggars is basically Thrice at their most refined and relaxed, but they end in a hellish frenzy of guitar that sounds extremely ominous. |

Major/Minor
Disarmed, 2:58-4:35. This seems like such a fitting way to begin a hiatus: playing perfectly together as a band. It's less of a wow moment and rather a simple and beautiful one. |
