I haven’t been active in a while, but I still lurk the site for reviews and music news. I’ve been learning to code in R, and so I thought as a learning exercise I would analyze the rating data of some of the top rated albums on Sputnik. Specifically, I counted the amount of ratings in a 60 day period starting from the ratings that have date stamps on them and found when the album had the most ratings. I, also, calculated the total averaged after each rating, running average (51 rating/point) smoothed it to reduce the variability of the first few averages in that set, and calculated the peak rating of the albums, and when they were at their peak (tldr; I found the albums highest rating and when). I also fit some polynomial models (picked the best one based on Bayes Information Criterion) to the time series of each individual rating to find what direction the ratings of the albums have trended towards in their entirety. All data is as of when I scraped the data (2/25/2016). | 1 | | Bjork Homogenic

02.26.16 | Yes, Spacesh1p. The slope is so small and standard error so big for these models, that it would take the 1000 + ratings to get them to be significant. | ScuroFantasma
