12.25.15 | Anything by audio technica is a safe bet. They have models that are akin to their m50's but cheaper. |

12.25.15 | Really the sweet spot for price to performance ratio is around the 200 dollar range.
I've noticed that the Philips SHP9500's, which are fantastic from what I hear, are on Amazon for around 90 USD or so new if you are willing to dig deep in your pockets. They are being discontinued so they good prices on them won't be around for long

Eh...
Its more about personal preference, but ever since I invested in a couple of more pairs, I've felt the ATH M line is just not really the best thing out there. Yeah they are extremely detailed and are quite fun for studio monitors, but the soundstage is non existent and the sound sometimes can get a bit grainy in sacrifice to push out that extra detail |
SharkTooth
12.25.15 | Yeah 90 is a bit over budget.... |
Conmaniac
12.25.15 | yeah might wanna consider spending a bit more or waiting until you have more cash for nicer headphones. anything under 60 won't be too impressive |

12.25.15 | I'm an audio newb, so I'm not really asking for much anyway |

12.25.15 | You're really not going to get anything good that lasts under at the very least 100 dollars, it just really doesn't exist. Save up, buy a 100 dollar pair of sennheiser 280s. It's not that much more than your budget and you'll get more out of them than anything cheaper |
Conmaniac
12.25.15 | theres some Audio-Technica's on sale for $53 on amazon. Id rec those I guess. they are the Audio Technica ATH M30x even though i agree with @emester's criticisms of that line |
emester
12.25.15 | Lowest priced things i could think of worth going for are either one of these

http://www.amazon.com/AKG-240-Semi-Open-Studio-Headphones/dp/B0001ARCFA
However for your situation in regards to durable/replaceable cables, id go with the Superlux. Just know that these things arent anything spectacular but they do a great job at getting the job done until you decide to upgrade |

12.25.15 | I had the JVC HA-S500s before I upgraded to the M50s. Really good sound quality for their price. Only thing is the cord isn't the best made out there if that's important to you. You can solder it back when/if it gives out I guess but the quality goes down a bit. I'd still rec the shit out of them. Sound quality really is v. good and they're only like £30 http://www.amazon.co.uk/JVC-nanotubes-diaphragm-Over-head-Headphone-black/dp/B008FWB9TQ |

12.25.15 | ay i just bought sony extra bass earbuds or whatever awful shit it's called and for $50 they're rly good |

12.25.15 | I have some sweet Koss phones. Couldn't really tell you how much they cost or what model they are but I can tell you that saving a few extra bucks and going the extra mile is really worth it. |
Mystletainn
12.25.15 | Sennheiser HD 598 or gtfo they are normally $250 but it seems like every year around black Friday they get cut in price HARD if you have amazon prime, I scored a pair for $103 and best purchase I made in my life. |
SharkTooth
12.26.15 | I'll wait until I can afford that shit |
xenocide.
12.26.15 | I would go for Creative Aurvana Live! They're relatively cheap for the sound quality they provide. |
