Rufin's Really Radical Ranking Runs Rabid!
My top 10 for 2015 is better than your top 10 cuz you aint me. |
1 | | Turnover Peripheral Vision
Funny how a band that started as a pop-punk group could become so entrenched and influential within the alternate rock scene. Being upbeat, nostalgic, and existentialist all at the same time is a hard trick to pull off but the boys did it. |
2 | | Hop Along Painted Shut
Mix Laura Stevenson and The Front Bottoms and Hop Along is what you get. Frances Quinlan is one a masterful poet and an incredible vocalist as well. The way she pushes her lungs to the absolute maximum to squeeze out every bit of sound is just captivating to hear. |
3 | | Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
The story and style aren't new, but they are certainly executed to perfection. With racial tensions constantly rising this is a necessary album and a damn good one at that. "Complexion (Ft. Rapsody)" is easily my song of the year. |
4 | | Viet Cong Viet Cong
The best post-punk album to come out in the past decade. Easily. The droning and repetitive guitar work is the perfect background for the nihilist lyrics. Shout out to my buddy Max for turning me on to these guys at Pitchfork. |
5 | | Bay Faction Bay Faction

6 | | i hate sex Circle Thinking
This girl has some fucking issues and I'm glad she does because it translated into some absolutely gut-wrenching music. I've haven't heard a woman with such dominating screams since Circle Takes the Square - if you like Screamo you have an obligation to listen to this album. |
7 | | Foxing dealer

8 | | mewithoutYou Pale Horses
The titans of indie and post-hardcore are back and they managed to fuse both genres together perfectly and wrap it up with more religious symbolism than usual. Imagine if James Joyce had a band and experimented with Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and Atheism. |
9 | | The Front Bottoms Back On Top

10 | | Lupe Fiasco Tetsuo & Youth
Lupe's best work. Yes, it's better than The Cool. Tetsuo & Youth has Lupe with a concept, one of growth and change, and features his best bars to date as well as some absolute bangers like "Chopper." |
