Top 10 Lacuna Coil songs
My personal favourite Lacuna Coil songs. Never mind the band turned to crap from Comalies onwards but even throughout those years they produced a couple of diamonds in the rough. Most music elitists will claim to Lacuna Coil being a run of the mill cookie cutter band but the truth is when you listen to these songs they have intoxicating melodies and are immensely rewarding if you put your ear to them. |
1 | Lacuna Coil Comalies
My personal fav LC song. The verses sung in Italian by Cristina give the song an exotic sound. From the guitar and key harmonies to the outro this is quality songwriting. It actually sounds more like proper gothic rock than later material. I could do without Andreas's vocals though. |
2 | Angels Punishment
The heaviest LC song (not an achievement really) but nonetheless the growls by Andreas are his deepest. The female choir chanting is haunting in the verses. I love the guitar effects. Simple but effective. |
3 | One Cold Day
One of the bands later gems from Black Crown Halo. Shame they couldn't channel the same creative energy into the rest of the album. |
4 | Cold Heritage
My personal fav off Unleashed Memories. This is an intoxicating song with an almost trip-hop Massive Attack esque drum beat and some real gothic keys and guitarwork. It's almost exclusively Cristina singing too which is a bonus. |
5 | Cold
My fav off In A Reverie, this song has everything LC does best wrapped up in four minutes and twenty seconds. |
6 | Senzafine
This is Lacuna Coil's only song sung fully in Italian. And I wish they did more songs in Italian. It sounds hypnotic with the vocals melodies over the top of some plucked guitar strings and a rich synth sound. The chorus of "Madre, Madre" over the top of a cascading violin? is just brilliant. |
7 | Unspoken
One of the highlights of Comalies is this beauty with it's catchy chorus and the unplugged version floating around is equally as good. |
8 | Entwined
Yeah im a sucker for Comalies. With good reason. Another intoxicating song with probably the best LC chorus. Again it's almost exclusively Cristina and it's probably one of her best vocal performances. |
9 | Spellbound
The highlight of Shallow Life, Spellbound is the bands most upbeat rocker with a ridiculously catchy chorus and some borderline creative guitarwork that any 8 year old guitarist could do in their sleep but at least it's not "chugga chugga" like their later crap. |
10 | Humane
TBH I could've put a number of other songs here "Purify", "Distant Sun", "Circle", "Reverie" "Tight Rope" but Humane takes the spot. |
