| Best Night Driving Albums!
Here are some great albums I can put on in my car when I'm traversing a lonely highway or even a back road in the night time. These albums contain songs that primarily have a "nocturnal" feel, as well as driving beats. Oh yeah we're doing this thing. | 1 | | ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead Source Tags and Codes
One of my favorite albums ever, and with songs like "How Near How Far" and "Heart In the Hand of the Matter," I can find no better musical companion for the road. | 2 | | Minus The Bear Highly Refined Pirates
Everything about this band tells of their nocturnal nature, but songs like "Monkey Knife Fight" and "Spritz!! Spritz!!!" deal very specifically with driving around at night. Couldn't ask for anything more obviously suited to this role. | 3 | | Television Marquee Moon
This wouldn't work half as well as a night album without the sprawling, ten-minute title track. It really makes the album what it is, and the thought of an illuminated night sky is just breath-taking. | 4 | | Minus The Bear Menos El Oso
The band's latest album is more diverse than HRP, so it's less perfect for this night driving feel. But they haven't completely abandoned their cool, throbbing nightclub feel altogether. Specifically, "Michio's Death Drive" provides an excellent musical background to the nocturnal aura. | 5 | | Meat Puppets Meat Puppets II
I just edited this one in because it's really awesome. The mix of country and punk (but mostly country) makes it a perfect highway album, day or night. But songs like "Aurora Borealis" and "We're Here" really bump up the nocturnal aspect of the album. | |

08.04.06 | cool list. I find Thrice's Vheissu and Dr. Dre's The Chronic make great driving music, especially if you live in the city. | YDload
08.05.06 | Sorry but I drive too fast for rap music. Plus, West Coast rap is for summer days. | Acey
08.10.06 | i would put A Perfect Circle's 'Thirteenth Step'. it has an ambience sort of feel to it. | labonza01
08.10.06 | hate me if you want for this, but i just bought 30 Seconds to Mars' new cd and drove home on a mostly empty highway tonight, and it was great, it felt right for a night drive.

08.23.06 | opeth's morningrise would kick ass if your driving at night... but only really if you happen to be driving through a forest, or moorland...
a better option might be "superstructure of an era" by princess (which i plan to review soon, once my uncle who i lent it to gives it back) which is kinda like atmospheric ambient guitar and synth music. |
