09.30.15 | A POS list is always welcome. This list is very tough to make but there are obviously a lot of great songs on here. In the flesh might be my favorite POS song, it is as close to perfection as you can get. Great list jehtro |

09.30.15 | the Remedy Lane top 3 is totally spot on, that's exactly how I would rank them. I'm not that familiar with most of the other albums, but Iter Impius would definitely be in my top 5. |
Jethro42
09.30.15 | Yes Omair, list gave me some trouble to make. Its songs are all top 10 to me. And you're right, In the Flesh is a fantastic song. I kinda forgot about that one, that explains the place I gave to it. I'll try to change that low position, it's almost embarassing ;) |
Jethro42
09.30.15 | Cheers Rik. Be is my fave album by them (good song pick btw). Then Entropia, Remedy Lane, The Perfect Element Part I, One Hour by the Concrete Lake and Finally Scarsick. I'm slowly discovering their Road Salt series. The latters are so different in style that I didnt include them to the list. |

09.30.15 | Remedy Lane is one of my favorite albums. It's very close to being a 5, but not quite there, mstly because I don't like Fandango that much, and some transitions within the songs are kinda clumsy (Rope Ends), but other than that, it's very close to being perfect to me. I always thought that Be is incredibly bloated. The songs themselves are great as ever, but I really don't think they go that well together, mostly because the music is so often interrupted by interludes and storytelling. Then again, it has some killer tracks and a very exquisite concept. I just have the feeling that it would have needed half an hour more time (so a double CD) to let the concept unfold. In my opinion, it just wants too much too urgently.
I only know individual songs from their other albums, been meaning to listen to them in the next time, but I don't want to rush it, so I'll wait until I'm in the right mood for it. |

09.30.15 | Bloody rubbish |

09.30.15 | Pretty cool list Jethro... Exposure for this band is always appreciated. With that being said I disagree with most of this list haha. |
Jethro42
09.30.15 | @Rick, I agree with you, Be is quite bloated and submerged by its spoken words, but band manage to let us breathe here and there with songs such as Imago, Pluvius Aestivus, Nauticus and Latericius Valete. I also think every songs enters very well into the others, and the musical themes are very well exploited. I also think you're right about the lenght of the album. It would have taken a double album.
@zak, let's agree to disagree!
@Crocodile, what would be your top 5 for fun?
|
TheCrocodile
10.01.15 | 1. Beyond the Pale
2. Idioglossia
3. Iter Impius
4. The Perfect Element
5. Revival
Sorry for the late response, I had stuff to do. |
Jethro42
10.01.15 | Ok, I understand why you disagree with me. Beyond the Pale is fantastic though. I'll keep my top 5 haha. |
TheCrocodile
10.01.15 | Fair enough. I really dig Martius/Nauticus II tho, might be 6. Or In The Flesh, idk. Anyways it's still great to discuss this band once in a while, thanks for the list. |
Jethro42
10.01.15 | Yes I agree In the Flesh is too low. I forgot to place that one, and now I'm trying to place it higher. |
OmairSh
10.01.15 | I really wish they release an album next year. Then you might have to change this list around :-P |
Jethro42
10.01.15 | I really dig the virage they took with the Road Salt series. I ask myself if they'll keep going that way or if they'll return back as a prog metal band. They are great at both bluesy and prog after all. I mean Daniel is good in both obv. |
OmairSh
10.02.15 | Yeah the RS albums took me a while to digest, but they're definitely enjoyable. From recent interviews Daniel is saying the songs they're writing sound reminiscent of old school POS with some new elements. |
TheCrocodile
10.02.15 | Every single band in existence says that tho... |
OmairSh
10.02.15 | Yeah i guess :P. But i was hoping for more new elements rather than going back. But I'm happy they're working on material |
TheCrocodile
10.02.15 | Can't argue with that, I'm real glad too. |
Jethro42
10.03.15 | Daniel said in a certain interview that they would kinda continue on their new style. |
TheCrocodile
10.03.15 | Idk, I saw a vid of an interview he did in July. I think he said it would be like "old" stuff, but with "new" elements and that he really liked working with that new guitarist from Sign, can't remember his name. |
Jethro42
10.03.15 | ^Ragnar Zolberg
If they still flirt with their old stuff, I'll be the first one to buy a copy. |
TheCrocodile
10.03.15 | same obviously lol |
Jethro42
10.04.15 | I just heard Daniel in last July' interview saying; ''We start to put ideas together. The fans of both the newer camp and the older camp will definitely just love this new material we're working on right now.''
So yes! |
Ocean of Noise
10.04.15 | such a good band |

10.05.15 | This is a very impressive collection of songs of Pain Of Salvation, Jethro. I've nothing against it. It's all a matter of personal taste. However, I'm glad because you like "Scarsick", too, as I like. As you know, many dislike of it. Another controversial album. About the "Road Salt" albums, I like them, but sincerely, both are my least favourite albums of the group. As you said, they're more bluesy, but I'm sincerely not a great blues fan. It's my problem, I know. Good choice, man. |
Jethro42
10.05.15 | Damn right Ocean
Cheers e21 |

6. Undertow
7. Sisters
8. Pluvius Aestivus

Jethro42
10.10.15 | Great picks here and there, but I also disagree with your ranking in general. We definitely are not sharing the same taste here...
I didn't include the Road Salt series. Both ''Sisters'' and ''The Physics'' are fantastic songs though. |
Jethro42
10.11.15 | I just noticed you're not fond of their first 2 albums. It's sad. |
OmairSh
10.11.15 | My list would probably be quite different to yours as well Jethro |
Jethro42
10.11.15 | I haven't meet anyone with a similar ranking as mine yet. It's not the choice of songs that is missing regarding their discog though. I felt I pretty much picked up their best. Maybe I would need to re-listen to their stuff and who knows if it would be different. One thing is sure, I love my list haha. |
TheHamburgerman
10.11.15 | Eeeh, I actually really like Entropia, it's just that I find it more of a consistently good album, rather than one with some best-of's. One Hour is definitely one of my less fav's. Generally I listen only to Inside, New Year's Eve and Inside out. Oh and of course the middle part of The Big Machine... |
OmairSh
10.11.15 | Of course man, their discog is so diverse it would be very difficult to find two similar rankings. But you've picked songs from pretty much most of their catalogue. I'm surprised you don't have more songs from Be since that's your favourite album. I'm guessing you like that as a whole album more than the individual songs. |
Jethro42
10.11.15 | Fair enough Hamburgerman.
@Omair, I didn't manage to include more from Be, cos 20 songs is quickly covered.
You can find a bunch of the songs I would have liked to include in my list into my ''honorable mentions'' above. |
OmairSh
10.11.15 | Sorry I just looked at your list again, there are quite a few songs from Be, my bad :-P. It's a fantastic and underappreciated album. Second favourite of POS after TPE. I NEED new POS material |
Jethro42
10.11.15 | Me too, my friend. Daniel said this in a recent interview; ''We start to put ideas together. The fans of both the newer camp and the older camp will definitely just love this new material we're working on right now.'' |
Jethro42
10.11.15 | It's pretty similar with your own sentence: ''Daniel is saying the songs they're writing sound reminiscent of old school POS with some new elements.'' |
