07.13.08 | Flucking absolutely loving what these bands are doing. This stuff was like a twenty-gallon musical-enema when I first heard it. Completely purged me of all the recycled schitt that's around. Just when I don't think I could be any more impressed with what these bands are doing, I hear a new sample and I'm floored all over again. I didn't know if Agalloch really belongs here, but the guitar parts certainly sound Post-Metal to my ears. What other bands would fit into this category, or is this it?

07.13.08 | Try Neurosis or Mastodon. Also, if you like Agalloch, check out Maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot. |

07.13.08 | post-metal is pretty awesome. all these bands are great but 10 are not post-metal. sonce some of these can also be considered sludge heres some recs...
Black Sheep Wall
Swallow the Ocean
The End of 6000 Years
Omega Massif
Suma
Ufomammut
Zonaria (same vocalist as Rosetta)
Overmars
Tusk
Callisto
Cult of Luna
...hope this helps. these i hold to be really good stuff |
istaros
07.13.08 | i wouldn't put baroness or agalloch here... agalloch's just doom, baroness is progressive sludge, somewhat like mastodon. not saying they're bad, they just can't really be called 'post-metal'
if you're interested in bands with post-metal structures that might also be a little more ferocious, try these:
Fleurety 'Min Tid Skal Komme'
Ved Buens Ende 'Those who Caress the Pale'
Manes 'Under Ein Blodraud Maane'
Blut Aus Nord 'Ultima Thulee' and 'Memoria Vetusta I: Fathers of the Icy Ages'(i only actually ENJOY these first two albums, but the stuff after that is more experimental/original than anything i've heard anywhere else, and i think most fans of theirs would primarily suggest 'The Work which Transforms God') |

07.13.08 | post-metal is a stupid term |
Angmar

07.13.08 | What masscows said. Any genre with the prefix 'post' in it, is just silly. Looking forward to post-post-metal, or a return to pre-post-metal, or perhaps even pre-metal. |
istaros
07.13.08 | you're going to denigrate a genre based on what it's called? it's just a name, you two. and get a room |
moltenlava
07.13.08 | I just made that post-post-metal comment somewhere else. It is sorta silly.

07.13.08 | Definitely gunna check out some of these other mentions. Thankz. The only one I'm already familiar with is Mastodon.

07.13.08 | "Cult of Luna" and "Neurosis" would blow your mind. Also Mastodon belong in this genre. |
Tyler
07.13.08 | list is a joke without NEUROSIS. How can you talk about "HUGELY INNOVATIVE" and not include Neurosis? Almost all of these bands are Neurosis ripoffs. |
SynGates
07.14.08 | Yeah dude you need to put Neurosis on here definitely. Also Year of No Light. |
moltenlava
07.14.08 | I gotta check out Neurosis. Fo' shizzle. How about Russian Circles? What do they sound like? Comparable to anyone here? I hear that they fit in with this crowd. Is that just about right?
