Silicon Valley (HBO) - Only knowing lead actor Thomas Middleditch from his stellar work as Doobs from Collegehumor's Jake and Amir series, I was very surprised with his performance. The obnoxiously confident character of Doobs is nowhere present in Thomas' character here as a timid, shy programmer who has the biggest chance of success, and the least amount of knowledge on how to get there. The portrayal of the "nerds" shown here is easily the most realistic on TV. | | 4 |  | Aesop Rock

Rick and Morty (Adult Swim) - This show's humor style is one of the most original I've seen in years. So well paced, and the dialogue is always stellar. This is an animated show fully aware of the tropes of science fiction, and flawlessly exploits them as well as celebrating them. Season 2 is in a month, and if you haven't checked this out and enjoy sci-fi or even just adult animated programs, I can't recommend this enough. | | 3 |  | Third Eye Blind

Regular Show (Cartoon Network) - It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is about this show that I love so much. I guess I relate to the main characters, working a crappy job while being slackers, but it goes beyond that. Although the characters are blue jays and gumball machines, creator J.G. Quintel paints a very realistic picture of what it's like to work one of those jobs. Also the recent romantic subplot between Mordecai, CJ, and Margaret was very well executed. Arrested Development (Netflix/FOX) - The Netflix revival season garnered mixed results, but I loved it. It is true that there weren't many group scenes that were in seasons 1-3, but that's obviously from the actors' scheduling conflicts. The show is still as sharp and witty as the FOX seasons, and they've impressively captured the unique tone after all these years off the air. | | 1 |  | Vampire Weekend

Louie (FX) - This show is really something else. After last year's very dramatic season, it was great seeing Louie back making episodes focusing on the comedic aspect, even if there were only 8 episodes this time around. It's lack of continuity always makes the show an unpredictable delight to watch, (There was actually a lot of continuity in season 4, as opposed to the lack of continuity in seasons 1-3 and season 5, so this show even has a lack of continuity in how continuous it is). Funny and often thought-provoking, Louie isn't like anything else on TV right now. | |

06.24.15 | Rick and Morty is amazingly fun. I'm beginning the third season of Louie. Season 1 was great, season 2 was kind of underwhelming half the time. Archer is kind of hit and miss for me. I always laugh a ton when I watch it with friends, but when I sit down episode for episode it's kind of eh, but I like the animation. | Funeralopolis
