BigPleb: Rec Me Horror Films

BigPleb 04.21.15	I have many more fave horror films but these are the ones that came to mind. Watching the House of the Devil right now? Anybody seen it?
SCREAM! 04.21.15	Ever listen to Goblin? They did the soundtrack for suspiria and the original dawn of the dead (among others). Really cool soundtracks. I imagine you've probably seen it but House of 1000 Corpses is one of my favorite modern horror movies so if you haven't def check it
BigPleb 04.21.15	Yeah I've seen it, Rob Zombie movie right? Thought it was pretty jarring and sloppy but Devils Rejects was a massive improvement.
bnelso55 04.21.15	Haven't seen that House of the Devil. May have to check it out. I've developed something of a late-blooming appreciation for the genre, so I'll be probably check some of the other ones posted here.
bnelso55 04.21.15	Dawn of the Dead and Suspiria are excellent. Any movie with a Goblin soundtrack is worthwhile.

BigPleb 04.21.15	I just found all the weird colour filters that would pop in randomly kinda annoying. I loved the first half an hour or so with the teenage kids on the tour thing, that shit was cool.

puntugruhm 04.21.15	begotten, (super black metal) cannibal holocaust (if you want a super gory, death metal esque flick) diabolique faust the testament of dr. mabuse un chien andalou (not so much a horror film as it is a disturbing surrealist/minimal film)
BigPleb 04.21.15	Seen Begotten and Cannibal Holocaust, enjoyed the latter more but Begotten was still super strange. Will take note of the others dude, thanks!

joshuahuntkc 04.21.15	Nice list. Re-Animator is awesome. House of the Devil is pretty cool. Ti West did a great job on it. Some of these are awesome and some are average but they all have redeemable qualities so if you dig the genre you'll at least enjoy them. Impervious 04.21.15	Here's some of my personal favs (might have some repeats, so I apologize) An American Werewolf In London Nightmare On Elm Street (original although remake wasn't bad) Let Me In Alien (sci-fi horror) It Follows (currently in theaters and it is great) The Descent Insidious (probably my favorite modern horror) Cabin In The Woods (kind of an ode to all horror, scary and hilarious) The Exorcist (classic!) The Shining Saw (1, 2, 3) (probably where torture porn really got mainstream. I stopped after 3) You're Next (this is fantastic) The Collector/The Collection (only watched once but loved them equally) I got more but I'll let that go for right now.

BigPleb 04.21.15	Some great recs on here, especially Videodrome and Jacob's Ladder. The hell segment in Jacob's Ladder is so chilling.
joshuahuntkc 04.21.15	It's on the average side of the spectrum. The visual effects toward the end of the film made it worth watching and it has the slow burner tension that's becoming more prominent in indie horror otherwise I agree its nothing special. If you end up watching Let Me In i'm going to advise watching the original and dealing with subtitles Let The Right One in. It's much better. I didn't care for The Collector or the Collection at all. Surpised no one has mentioned Hostel or Cabin Fever.

Tunaboy45 04.21.15	@Pleb one of the scariest films I've ever seen, the pacing at atmosphere are perfect (especially the last 10 minutes or so).
SCREAM! 04.21.15	Surprised no one has recced The Thing yet (the original obvs) and Hellraiser Also The Conjuring was really well done even though the story was super cliche, same with The Woman in Black

cryptside 04.21.15	Definitely second The Babadook and Session 9, both really great flicks that build dread instead of relying upon jump scares to do the job. I would also recommend Insidious and Sinister, both have an interesting plot and pretty great acting.

TheGreatQ 04.22.15	I need to see The Babadook so bad. lol I saw this guy I'm facebook friends with complain about how stupid and boring it was and then recommend the remake of The Hills Have Eyes as the epitome of horror and then said that if he had the budget of Babadook he would be able to give people PTSD with his amazing horror.

Happy2review 04.23.15	I watched Blaire Witch recently. I think it's aged well so far. As it should, if you think about it since the movie camera is essentially through the eyes of a camcorder. Poor (lesser) video quality lends to the movie's suspense. It's a shame other movies have attempted to replicate that idea. Feels like a gimmick now.
BlackLlama 04.23.15	"In The Mouth Of Madness" Simply one of the best movies ever. I would also recommend: The Children of the Corn The Gate Sleepaway Camp The Serpent and the Rainbow
