03.30.15 | I've seen more.. 30 is what I can think of right now. I like darker movies a lot of the time but any recs would really be appreciated. |

Calc
03.30.15 | Enter the Void
doesn't get much more psychological than this, not sure about the thriller part though |
L4titudes
03.30.15 | Also on my to see list. Maybe I'll watch that. It seems to have gotten a mixed response but I suppose a lot of off the wall psychological stuff does. |
Let
03.30.15 | Tarkovsky - The Mirror
A beautiful fragmented memoir of dying man. A slow flashing of one's life before their eyes. It's pretty (good) |

PlatonicMushroom
03.30.15 | Crimes and Misdemeanors by Woody Allen is apparently considered an 'existential drama' so it's resonably close to what you requested.
I've only seen it once and it was almost a year ago but i remember it as quite thought-provoking while still being very easy to watch |
puntugruhm
03.30.15 | watch seconds as soon as possible. it is one of my all time favorites. |

03.30.15 | It seems to be really underrated in the critical community, but one of my favorites is Tarsem Singh's The Cell, starring (who knew?) J. Lo and Vince Vaughn. Sounds like it could be terrible from that alone, but it's actually quite deep and thought-provoking. |
porcupinetheater
03.30.15 | Le Samourai, The Vanishing (the original 1988, not shitty Jeff Bridges remake), Safe (1995 Todd Haynes, not the recent 2012 movie), Cul-de-sac, and The Wages of Fear all worked on me for a long time afterwards - for very different reasons, granted - but I could probably consider all to at least have elements of the psychological thriller. |

03.30.15 | Jacob's Ladder |

Yotimi
03.31.15 | My favorite part of shutter island is when it assumes the audience is stupid and literally explains the twist using a marker board |

04.01.15 | its good in concept but doesnt translate well on film |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | its one of the most innovatively and uniquely filmed movies of the decade so thats stupid as fuck just sayin' |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | seriously if you don't appreciate Enter the Void you inherently have absolutely no credibility as a fan of the art of film |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | Lol EtV is literally the shallowest form of art there is - it's different so it's art! Filmmaking at its absolute worst. The vagina cam alone makes it an automatic F. Like if you can seriously watch that and think to yourself, "wow this is great," may god have mercy on your soul. Noe is so obviously an idiot that I'm surprised it isn't lumped in with the uwe bol slop in film discussion. The acting is atrocious (i know not the focus, but good god). The little narrative it has is beyond amateurish. If you compare it to most "weird" music videos (which it more closely resembles) it's probably right up there with something by rob zombie. 2 hours of vaseline and shit smeared over a floating lens. No thanks! |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | It works the book of the dead into the narrative like a high school student doing a bad art project on tibet |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | tl;dr your obsolete and painfully vapid opinion about shit that you dont understand because you're a basic ass granola bitch. |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | What a steaming pile of shit. I can't even believe this right now. Next you'll tell me romeo + juliet (dicaprio's) is the best shakespeare adaptation |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | Nope. Like most of those others you listed are good which is why I'm so confused. Like if u were like der shutter island, fight club, any boyle, and etv, id be like ok yeah that makes sense |
Let
04.01.15 | granola >> EtV |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | no next im going to tell you how you're a disgrace to the art community and you should probably go sit your fat ass down in the theater with your greasy ass popcorn fingers and watch the new cinderella movie like the anemic little twit u are |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | Whoa vagina cam, whoooaaa |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | whoa a trite twat with a bitter opinion, whoaaaaa |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | Lol I did see that....with my daughter. Shit thats not gonna help my argument |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | A movie with a vagina cam can't be good. That's like film 101 |
Yotimi
04.01.15 | Dude I like most of those others so I'm just shitting on void not u |
PotsyTater
04.01.15 | if you judge a films mechanics off your psuedo-philosophical fallacy ridden shitty film 101 teachings you're probably a pretentious idiot. That's like film 201. |
anarchistfish
04.01.15 | "A movie with a vagina cam can't be good. That's like film 101"
this is like saying you can't make a good album made entirely of samples |
PotsyTater

PotsyTater
04.01.15 | anyways i digress you are entitled to your (shit) opinion im just bustin ur balls |
Yotimi
