03.02.15 | Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Neurosis, Celtic Frost, Triptykon, Isis and Opeth.
Two cds of every band, with the exception of Opeth, 1 vinyl and 1 cd. I try to keep my collection varied for now, because the money I can spend is limited. It will change in the future, but that's it for now. |
TalonsOfFire
03.02.15 | For both Metallica and Opeth I have every album on CD, a few DVDs, and a few T-shirts, every Dream Theater CD and a few DVDs, all Mastodon, Slayer, and Cradle of Filth CDs as well, most Black Sabbath CDs and a T-shirt |

Yeah Sabbath could probably make the list if I added a fifth spot. Have 6 out of their first 7 on vinyl (no sabbath bloody sabbath) and 13 on CD. I try to have a variety as well but when a certain band is really important to me I can't help but want to show it |

Nice man, I'm going to add some Agalloch to my collection soon, I usually buy stuff from the bands that are really important to me. |
ArsMoriendi
03.02.15 | Frank Zappa: 3 shirts, 1 poster, and a ton of his CDs.
I also have a lot Beatles merch, because it's so common. But who doesn't am I right? |

03.02.15 | are we talkin merch or music? music wise, i have every pressing of every Nails LP/EP/Split, including a TP of Obscene Humanity that took forever and a pretty substantial money payment to get.
oh, and every single BBNG release for whatever reason. they're going for crazy prices on discogs now |
zakalwe

03.02.15 | dark tranquillity i have literally everything they've released besides skydancer and of chaos and eternal night plus a t shirt i never wear |
SCREAM!
03.02.15 | @hep that's actually really impressive considering how extensive that afi discog is. That's the kind of collection I'd love to have for agalloch if everything wasn't so damn expensive |
cvlts
03.02.15 | ah, well in that case the most of one band i have is probably Dylan, Sabbath or Earth... been able to track vinyl copies of nearly every Dylan LP, everything from Dehumanizer back on Sabbath, and missing the harder to find colorways from Earths discography. |
DikkoZinner
03.02.15 | Slayer |
organizedsound
03.02.15 | Eh, I've never considered CDs/Vinyl to be "merch"––isn't that just the music itself? I guess I can see someone in the digital age arguing that, but that has to be a fairly new phenomenon. If we include CDs/Vinyl, my winner would definitely be Zappa: Several dozen cds, about 20 vinyl records, a few dvds, a poster, and two shirts.
Without counting CDs/vinyl, I have two main runner-ups: Kayo Dot (2 shirts and a poster) and of Montreal (1 shirt and 3 posters) |
rockandmetaljunkie
03.02.15 | I think it's Sabbath |
pedro70512
03.02.15 | I have over 150 songs by Gamma Ray, but don't own some of the rare EPs. On the other hand, I own every song Mastodon has ever issued. I get obsessive. |
SCREAM!
03.02.15 | You could make a case either way but as soon as you have something physical and official you can buy, collect and sell it and that qualifies it as merch in my book as opposed to like you said mp3s or CDRs that you can't resell afterwards |
pedro70512
03.02.15 | Anything made in a limited quantity is merch to me. It has a place and a time and value that doesn't go away unless it's damaged. So CD's can be, as long as they won't be remade later on. |
organizedsound
03.02.15 | well it seems like there's an overwhelming consensus here that all physical media counts as merch---if that's the case, I have a lot of shit to add, with a good deal of collections coming from my younger prog days: Genesis (classic era discog, cd and vinyl), Yes (vinyl only), Gentle Giant discog (cds, a few vinyl), Dream Theater discog, all Opeth, Joan of Arc, and a ton of artists in the 5-10 releases range |
organizedsound

03.02.15 | @JJKeys
Same. I bought all of my DT when i was roughly 13/14 and now I have it as a relic of my prog metal past and not much more. Despite that, I'm still jealous of your original-cover Live Scenes haha |

organizedsound
03.02.15 | @Arcade
I totally agree with that if it's lame fye/target posters or goofy metal posters sold at shows, but if you're selective, posters can be great...Right now I've got Scott Walker, Kayo Dot, Miles, Trane, Thou, The Body, of Montreal, Zappa...not great art or anything but definitely a building block between Zeppelin/Breaking Bad teenage fanboyisms and whatever the fuck actual adults put on their walls |
