11.30.14 | ^have you seen 15, if you like 5 you'll probably like it. | ShrillYell
11.30.14 | Agree with the Melville comment, saddening lack of Le Samourai here
otherwise good list brutha | adr
11.30.14 | No Harakiri? One of my fav movies.
Nice picks anyway, didn't like 2 that much though. 5, 11 and 14 are my fav's from here. | TheBarber
11.30.14 | Oh god this decade, 1 is all time fav, period. all the rest is perfect | lou1000
12.01.14 | Winter Light and The Silence also came out this decade. Ingmar Bergman is good at directing films. | Yotimi
12.01.14 | Great decade. Psycho is pretty meh tho | Hovse
12.02.14 | @lou1000 not yet gonna check that one cuz Bergman is brilliant | TheBarber
12.02.14 | Although it's beyond me how anyone could consider 6 a good movie/director, the ideas are shallow as fuck and the desire of not giving personnality to either the shots or the actors doesn't add anything really, just makes everything comically bad imo | Yotimi
12.03.14 | Maybe you should read up on bresson's philosophy of film making. It's good that he differs from most in that regard (no emotions), that's part of what makes him interesting. | TheBarber
12.03.14 | I've studied him in my actor and cinema theory classes and can safely say I believe he's highly delusional on how cinema works. to me character "models" as he calls them who get their emotions and interiority from that of the viewers only work when said characters don't communicate direct informations, for instance when they don't talk (ex: Silent era Keaton or recently Valhala Rising), once Bresson's characters start acting they just appear as robots (wich they were trained to be), exhausted and ridiculous; I'm sorry but I just can't project any parts of myself in such unlively and dead characters.
Soo yeah I fail to see the fabled ''purity'' Bresson was looking for in his movies and do believe he's a hack that was reconized for making his bad ideas into written theory, fuck the guy :]
(not to mention the whole messiah biblical meaning behind 6 wich is just inflated by the guy's religious beliefs, never has a "bad guy" been soo one sided ffs) | TheBarber
12.03.14 | tl;dr: yep read about him and imo believe his theories don't work to the point where it's a laugh | peaks40
12.04.14 | Sir, You are a great man. Excellent list. 1,2,9,15,5 are the highlights for me. |
