Melo Death You Need To Hear
1Sacrilege GBG
The Fifth Season

Easily one of the best Melo-Death records ever, but always overlooked.
2Yyrkoon
Dying Sun

Before they created their punishing and best record Occult Medicine, these guys also created a
seriously killer Melo-Death album that is pretty fast and riff-centric.
3Unsilent Phenomenon
The Renouncement

Shreds. Its keyboard work gets a bit annoying but imagine if you smashed Yngwie Malmsteen
and Alexi Laiho together and raised them on Thrash Metal. That sounds awful and great at the
same time, but it's mostly just really great.
4Sarcasm (Swe)
A Touch of the Burning Red Sunset

I can't believe I had to add this to the database, it's incredible, go listen now.
5A Canorous Quintet
Silence of the World Beyond

Can't recommend this band enough, another great group that fell through the cracks.
6Gates of Ishtar
At Dusk And Forever

This album will riff your face off for 35 minutes straight.
7Sins of Omission
The Creation

Riffs and riffs and riffs for days.
8A Mind Confused
Anarchos

Blackened Melo Death stuff that has kind of an OSDM guitar tone.
9Beyond The Flesh
What The Mind Perceives

Thrashy Melo-Death that piles up the riffs. Vocals feel a bit like Chuck Shuldiner too so that's
a neat little bonus.
10Non Serviam
Between Light And Darkness

Another one I had to add to the database - this walks a fine line between Black Metal and
Melo-Death, but I think it's got enough of the latter to be on here. Tremendous song-writing
and atmosphere here.
11The Moaning
Blood From Stone

This record is almost a 5. It's that good.
12Hypocrite
Into the Halls of the Blind

Criminally unknown release from another one Sweden's forgotten gems.
13Eucharist
Mirrorworlds

This is fairly well known among Melo-Death listeners, but it never quite got the attention that
groups like In Flames, Dark Tranquility or At The Gates got unfortunately. This isn't quite as
good as the aforementioned groups best offerings, but it's damn close.
14Estuary of Calamity
The Sentencing

Like if Dissection went a bit more towards the Death Metal end of the spectrum, real cool
Melo-Black/Death stuff.
15Garden of Shadows
Oracle Moon

I was trying to stick to fairly unknown records, but I'd be remiss if I didn't give this a spot
here. It's essential in every way, get it.
