09.12.14 | You seem to have been writing a lot of negative reviews lately. Negative reviews are harder, since it requires a lot of convincing. Maybe try to post some 3.5-5 reviews as practice. |

09.12.14 | Yeah man it's a good idea to write about albums you like, it tends to be easier when you're more enthusiastic about something. Also, if there are staff reviews of your favourite albums (preferably written after 2010, some of the earlier staff and emeritus reviews are shite) then study them and see how they did it. It will take practice and drafting but if you really want to succeed then in all likelihood you will. |

09.12.14 | go at your reviews with a plan. I usually approach an album with five questions: who is the artist? what is the context of the album? what did they try to do on it? did it work, and why or why not? and who would enjoy this album? provide examples from the music and lyrics, maybe some relevant quotes from the band. those should be some good ingredients for a solid, informative review. |

09.13.14 | It's good to wait a day after you write the review before you proofread.. I find I'm less likely to miss mistakes that way. |
