Last Night Was Hot Sweatty Metal Fun

I had never seen any of these bands before last night. Chop rSuey (Seattle) is not the greatest venue for this kind of music rthough. There were noticeable technical issues and it was so rhot and humid that the dancefloor was like a slip-n-slide. rRegardless....fun was had and that's all that matters.
1Reflections

I had never heard of them before. Pretty straight forward chugga chugga with 808 drops every
couple of minutes.
2Monuments

Best band of the night. The new album is great and their vocalist killed it. I'm always impressed
when someone can not only pull off cleans and screams, but can do it just as well live.
3Erra

Disappointed. That's really all I can say. First off, their new front man sucks. He reminded me of a
bad Tim Lambesis. All 'roided out with one vocal tone and shit. Also, there were technical issues
with the drums so the bass drum was practically inaudible. They also had no bass player so
everything sounded sort of empty. The one redeeming thing was that their clean vocalist can
actually hit those notes live. Kudos to you sir.
4Glass Cloud

Heaviest band of the night. I had never seen Jerry Roush when he was with Sky Eats Airplane or Of
Mice and Men but he's a beast of a front man. I love their album The Royal Thousand but the new
EP, not so much. All the bros loved it though. Angry, violent chugga chugga. Luckily it's just an EP so
they couldn't fill their whole set with this new dumbed-down sound of theirs.
5Scale the Summit

Talented, talented dudes. There was so much tapping, I thought Fred Astaire was in their fingers.
Beautiful videos with the theme of each song was projected onto a screen behind them. Most of the
angry bros left after Glass Cloud so it was a nice, somewhat relaxing end to the evening. For some
reason, I picture the Scale the Summit guys reading and playing chess during their downtime on
this tour while all the other bands are off partying.
