Master Of Puppets Ranked

My turn.
1Metallica
Master of Puppets

Disposable Heroes: Still my favorite Metallica song of all time. Perfectly paced,
varied, and compositionally diverse, this one has it all.
2Metallica
Master of Puppets

Damage Inc.: Fast as hell, addicting as hell. That is all.
3Metallica
Master of Puppets

Master of Puppets: A fantastic track with a wonderful melodic middle section. The
lowered speed might startle some after the fast-paced Battery, but I think it's a
nice contrast.
4Metallica
Master of Puppets

Battery: One of the band's finest openers. I love that classical guitar intro and how
the overall buildup leads into such a killer thrash riff. Kirk's solo is quite nice too.
5Metallica
Master of Puppets

Welcome Home (Sanitarium): A really good power ballad, although not as well-done
as Fade to Black in my opinion. With that said, the intro has a satisfyingly haunting
and overall dark vibe to it, and the heavier middle section picks up the song's pace
nicely.
6Metallica
Master of Puppets

The Thing That Should Not Be: Many people would place this at the bottom, but I
actually enjoy it quite a lot. While it is among the weaker tracks, this song's
atmosphere is what elevates it above the lowest two songs. Very eerie, very
foreboding. The lyrics and music both make for a chilling and fascinating tune.
7Metallica
Master of Puppets

Orion: A nice instrumental and a good showcase for the late Cliff Burton's bass
talent, but I think the buildup goes on for a bit too long. Regardless, the soft middle
section is beautiful and the melodic guitar work during that segment is extremely
well-composed. Plus, Cliff's solo is legendary. This one may get off to a slow start,
but it's a cool tune nonetheless. Don't be discouraged by its placement on the list.
8Metallica
Master of Puppets

Leper Messiah: Never been the hugest fan of this one. It's good for sure, but I find
the riffs a little uninspired compared to the rest of the tunes. Plus, the faster
section later on almost seems like a rehash of what the band already did with
"Welcome Home." This song's still good though, and it's pretty impressive that a
song like this is the weakest... proving just how many great ones there are here.
