Now that I have your attention, it's time for the next installment of Albums
I'm Digging. (July 1st Half) | 10 | | Gazpacho Demon
Only just started listening to this fantastic album again by the Norwegian prog rockers Gazpacho -
definitely one of the best this year, and I'm taking a real liking to the leviathan of a song 'Death Room'. I
still prefer 'Night' over this album, but it's hard to top perfection. Favourite Track: I've Been Walking
(Part 1) | 9 | | Om Advaitic Songs
Haven't listened to this album recently either, pretty chillax in a dark kinda way, I
won't try to pretend to know what I'm talking about with these guys, I ain't sayin
nuthin'. Favourite Track: State of Non-Return | 8 | | Blueneck Repetitions
Really underrated album for Blueneck - it's really mellow in comparison to Scars or Host, but a bit
more substantial than Epilogue. It's still as sombre and macabre and other cool words as their
other works, but there's just something about Repetitions I prefer over Epilogue and Host.
Favourite Track: Sleeping Through a Sorm | 7 | | Mastodon Once More 'Round the Sun
UK TOUR. I HAVE BECOME ONE WITH HYPE. Favourite Track: Chimes at Midnight | 6 | | Steve Reich Phases - A Nonesuch Retrospective
Okay, maybe not -this- album itself, but I've been listening to a hell of a lot of assortments of his
work: Six Marimbas, Music for 18 Musicians, Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ,
Octet, Variations for Winds, Strings, and Keyboards, Variations for Vibes, Pianos & Strings. It's
allll good. Watching live performances and seeing the discipline of the musicians playing subtly
progressing repetitions for 15+ minutes is really just amazing. Favourite track: Music for Mallet
Instruments Voices and Organ | 5 | | Yes Fly From Here
I want to get this off my chest: Heaven and Earth was the worst thing to happen to music this
year and to Yes in general. Listening to the album in its entirety almost bored me to tears -
there is absolutely no depth, originality or soul in that album - do not be tempted to listen to it,
ignorance is bliss. ANYHOO, after recovering for that car crash, I decided to listen to 'Fly From
Here' for the first time, expecting it to be an equally bad pile of turds - how wrong I was. Benoît
David isn't exactly Jon Anderson, but he doesn't try to be, and that's good! at least it's original
(unlike Jon Davidson who makes a terrible imitator). Fly From Here is a bit hit-and-miss track
wise, but my god, the title track is amazing! Dare I say, comparable to even classic Yes?
Favourite Track: Fly From Here | 4 | | The Pineapple Thief Live at the 013
My goodness, look at the time! It's new-album-o'clock! All this month I've been spinning some
Pineapple Thief in hype of Magnolia later this year (the trailer seems pretty tasty) - I always find
myself listening to their live stuff, especially this album. The production on this live album is
pretty slick, I often catch myself out thinking it's a studio recording. I won't talk too much about
this one, I've already written a review on it *nudge nudge nudge*. Favourite Track: Snowdrops | 3 | | The Pineapple Thief 10 Stories Down
Not the best TPT album, granted, but it does have it's moments in killer songs like
'Prey For Me' and 'Wretched Soul', and I love the variance between sounds in this
album, ranging from vicious hard-hitting rock and soothing ballads. Yes there are a
lot of forgettable songs, but it's nice when you do listen to them. Favourite Track:
Who Will Light Up Your Eyes? | 2 | | The Pineapple Thief Tightly Unwound
Now I've been listening far far far more to the second disc on the reissue of this great
album than the actual LP. The second disc is comprised of 2 EPs: The Dawn Raids 1+2,
and a few other tracks, and they do have some really original and unexpected moments in
it yet still retaining their iconic sound. It's a real shame that TPT don't play their older
stuff a bit more often - I'd love to see more of TU, LM and VoaD being played, but they
have such a large discography that playing a wide range of it would be quite difficult,
especially in tours where they support their latest album. Favourite Tracks: (disc 1)
Different World, (disc 2) Too Far Gone | 1 | | The Ocean Pelagial
Saw these guys at The Cockpit in Leeds the other week - absolutely killer. Loved
the album, loved the energy of their performance, loved the atmosphere even
though there was only about 100 people there. It wasn't as good as the first time I
saw them, but it was still pretty damn good - I really need to go see some more
shows this year: gonna try to go to Opeth and Mastodon, and fingers crossed for
an Anubis and Pineapple Thief tour next year. Favourite Track: Hadopelagic II: Let

07.18.14 | Yes! Glad to see The Pineapple Thief on here and I Will Light Up Your Eyes is incredibly beautiful.
If you haven't, check out Little Man. It's their best pre SHIM in that same style | JJKeys
07.18.14 | The only Pineapple Thief albums I haven't checked out are What We Have Sown and 137 - I really need to get on top of them before Magnolia comes out - and yeah, Snowdrops from Little Man is just amazing | Snowdog808
07.19.14 | Fly from Here sure had a beautiful epic, and I agree that the vocals were not much of a cheap imitation of Jon Anderson. | NordicMindset
07.19.14 | I keep clicking on this list thinking it's a Tool ranked, why... | TalonsOfFire

07.19.14 | I feel if I do I'll go in with such high expectations that I'll end up disappointed. It happened to me with opeth (granted blackwater has some really cool moments) | TalonsOfFire
07.19.14 | Don't expect the second coming but they're one of my favorite bands they really are loved and considered one of the best
rock bands recently | ConcubinaryCode
07.19.14 | When they last released an album I was twelve lol. If I were to listen to them what should I expect? Their albums are all highly rated but does one stand as a better album to jump into? | TalonsOfFire
07.19.14 | They're just really innovative and complex, kind of like a heaver, darker King Crimson. Lateralus is good to start with if you're more of a prog fan or Aenima if you're more into heavy | ConcubinaryCode
07.19.14 | I'll try aenima tonight cuz wynaut | TalonsOfFire
