Cumbre Tajin Impressions ( a.k.a. Primus + Tool)

My experience on the second day of Cumbre Tajin Festival
1Puscifer
Conditions of My Parole

They were pretty good. It's pretty much the antithesis of MJK when he is with Tool. MJK came out dress with a blond wig and a white suit, he was tossing poker cards to the public. They played for about an hour and the audience went insane, especially ladies. I hadn't seen Puscifer live prior from that performance at Cumbre Tajin and I hace to say that they have a great sound and this really sexual vibe to their music and how they dance and everthing. They had a prop motor home, The drum set was mounted on one of those red wagon that children use to play, only this one was like 2 meters long and even they had some chairs and a grill in the audience. A scene remeniscent of some good ol' vacation.
Overall it was a nice surprise to watch these guys play before Primus and their songs sound great live.

Frizzle Fry

What can I say something that hasn't been said about the great Les Claypool, Larry Lalonde and Tim Alexander? Having already seen them live twice, it was great to see them a third one, this time they played mostly their classics with very trippy vissuals and they usually jam and extend their songs when they are not exclusively on a Primus show, for example, Southbound Pachyderm lasted nearly 9 minutes on this performance, another song in which they usually extend live is Over the Falls and it was a great surprise that Les and company seemed more than happy to be playing in front of 80 000 people. They mention something about Ler playing a great guitar solo and Les said that "it was probably the second greatest Larry Lalonde guitar solo ever". They played 12 songs in an hour and a half set and hit the stage at 9 pm aproximately. Overall they had a great vibe, great sound, great visuals and the performance was better than I expected, the connection was really strong and that's why I really enjoyed their show even if I was 30 meters away from the stage.
3Tool
Lateralus

The main act of the night. They showed at 10:20 pm and the show opened up with Third Eye, the first thing that I notice was that the sound was much louder than the Primus show and it was powerfully enough to be listened by 80 000 people. The set was 10 songs long, didn't played B'Boom and didn't feauture any kind of intermission. They played for almost two hours, the visuals and lasers looked beautiful. The audience went crazy when they played classics liks Schism, Lateralus, or Stinkfist. Aside from that, they didn't play any classic surprise like Opiate or Sober, but it was a pretty epic performance. They finished their show and they seemed happy to be there.
Epic concert for $28 dollars, probably this will be remembered as the concert of the year.
