apokolypz: Old Band's Middle Years Generally Are Mediocre?

ArsMoriendi 02.18.14	Pink Floyd's best albums are their middle era ones: Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Animals are without a doubt in my top 5. (inb4 annoying people insulting me for not including the filler riddled, Roger Waters power trip called The Wall)

Plus its so much less prog that the 5 previous albums and there are way too many Waters vocals as compared to Gilmour vocals. Waters sings 17 songs by himself, Gilmour sings 3 by himself, and there's 6 songs with both of them singing. That means 17/26 songs on The Wall have no Gilmour vocals. At least it wasn't The Final Cut.

SitarHero 02.18.14	Purely anecdotally, it seems that most bands peak artistically within their first 4 albums. It's all downhill from there, barring a revamping of the lineup with fresh blood/ideas.

I think songs that contribute to the story but don't add anything musically (of which there are many on The Wall) can be considerred filler seeing as essentially they have been included to fill the gaps (in the story).
