I haven't done just a normal list in a long time.

De-Loused in the Comatorium

One of my all-time favorite albums. An absolute masterpiece. The strange lyrics, the
great hooks, the chaos. Not much to say that hasn't already been said.

Frances the Mute

Absolutely incredible. Experimentation that actually works, every song
is just crafted so well. Almost no weaknesses to this album.

The Bedlam in Goliath

This is a little bit like De-Loused part 2, just not as good (that's not saying much
though since not very many things are as good as De-Loused). This album has some
of the best highs of their discography.

Noctourniquet

An incredibly underrated album. It's different from the rest of their discography. While
it still focuses on experimenting with sound it goes with a more wall-of-sound style,
almost shoegazey at moments. Some ideas are either not expanded on enough, or
unnecessarily extended though. Not a perfect album, but great nonetheless

Amputechture

Some of these songs simply don't warrant such lengths. There are still some great
jams here, but there are times where it just gets incredibly uninteresting.

Octahedron

Not really worth listening to if you're not heavily into The Mars Volta. It takes the
worst parts of their music and puts it all together. It has its moments, but overall it
just sounds bland, rushed, uninspired.
