JamieTwort 01.12.14	Parts of this list seem to imply that only pure [insert genre here] artists should be labelled as such and that obvious influences from these genres in other artists should be ignored, i.e. prog bands with strong jazz influences shouldn't be allowed to have jazz (fusion) as a secondary tag. If that is what you're implying then that's kinda dumb.

It would be more clear if it was divided between bop, free/avant-garde, big band, nu jazz and fusion or something, I agree. but there's also a band description at the top of each band page where someone can be more descriptive of what the artist(s) 'truly' sound like while using the blanket term of "jazz" under the genre tag. just sayin'

Just sayin'" I think that has more to do with the fact that the genre tags can be edited by anyone on the site, and Sputnik has (or "had," I suppose) a definite focus on metal. Otherwise, I'd wager the only metal tags you'd see would be Metal and Death Metal.

I know both are supposed to represent different things ('metal' being a more general tag while 'heavy metal' is more specific to traditional heavy metal) but do we really need both? People don't generally distinguish between the two unlike 'rock' and 'hard rock'.
