2013 Was Pretty Good

Here's a handful of albums that you've already seen before and will bicker over
1 Boris
Präparat

Realistically in the top 20 or 30, but for my purposes, it's the AOTY. Elegy is amazing anyways.
2Kayo Dot
Hubardo

I only got around to this one recently, but it's definitely one of the most solid and interesting releases of the year. Hubardo actually can hold your attention, unlike some of the albums KD has put out in recent years.
3Melt-Banana
Fetch

Lie Lied Lies is one of the funnest songs released this year. Frantic and epic album.
4Gorguts
Colored Sands

Hadn't jammed death metal in a long time and this got me back into it. Great album with all the riffs one needs. Gorguts always seems to bring the perfect amount of melody into their dissonance, and they didn't disappoint on this one. Best DM this year.
5Obliteration
Black Death Horizon

The other more extreme release I enjoyed this year. The vocals left a little to be desired in my opinion, kind of sounded like a nerd kept having his voice crack while dealing with a severe case of strep throat. The instruments however far make up for that
6 Boris
Boris Performing "Flood"

Oh, look, one of my favourite bands performing one of their best songs.
7Lorde
Pure Heroine

It's like if Bjork and Chelsea Wolfe had a little Kiwi child, so what's not to love?
8Tim Hecker
Virgins

The master again releases an excellent effort that throws in more melody than usual and holds your attention.
9Run The Jewels
Run The Jewels

Didn't know whether to include this one, but I've invested a lot of time in this beat-brimming affair. A lot of classic tracks, and A Christmas Fucking Miracle fits in right now.
10Paysage d'Hiver
Das Tor

Perfect music for this time of year. I put this on when I'm tired of Christmas music from work and jam and the blast beats cleanse me.
11Meishi Smile
mYSTERIOUS sUMMER vACATION

Ripped this EP right off someone else's list but goddammit it's good.
12Danny Brown
Old

I was pleasantly surprised when my Anthropology prof made us watch the video for "Dip" as part of the course. Only put this on a few times but I have to admit it's pretty infectious and well-done.
13Captain, We're Sinking
The Future Is Cancelled

Though I'm entirely ignorant when it comes to punk, it seems like less and less quality albums have been released recently. This one rules and it's fun and who gives a fuck just listen to it
