I know, EVERYONE and their ALTS makes makes Opeth lists, but guess what? I haven't been able to stop listening to them as of late. It's getting obnoxious, but since it's been years since I've made the list so I don't feel too bad. Here's my ranking:
Still the best. The material on that album is amazing. Fav Song: Godhead's Lament.
My Arms, Your Hearse
Once Upon A Time; this was my LEAST favorite Opeth. I was still in transition to heavy metal, didn't care for the production level... blah blah. Fav Songs: April Etheral and When can't be beat. (Except for 'To Bid You Farewell')
Aesthetically speaking this is my favorite Opeth. Love the drums, the progression of the songs, STOP GO. I miss Martin Lopez. Fav Song: Baying of the Hounds
To Bid You Farewell........gah. And to think it is one of Mikael's least favorite??? TNASW too is excellent. I also really like the live version alteration of Advent.
Leper Affinity and Bleak are ace, but the rest isn't quite as interesting. The title song is an excellent closer though. Fav Song: Leper Affinity
Morningrise but not as good. Still it's interesting, which I can't say wholeheartedly about these bottom 4. Fav Song: None, they all blend together for me.
Not as awful as people make it out to be. Is Famine terrible? Do the tracks take awkward progressions? YES, BUT think about the production level, Vocals, Album Art, bass, end of Folklore, and the simple fact that the lead singer is motivated to rotate to new territories. Fav Song: The Lines In My Hands.
I recently re listened to this, and it just is so Goddam boooooring. Some sections are interesting but I can't muster a listen through this whole album often. Fav Song: Windowpane
People are split between Ghost Reveries and Watershed. IMO this was the giant mis-step. Fav Song: The Lotus Eater
I actually really like the song Deliverance. Master's Apprentice is pretty good too. Let's not speak of the other songs...
Agree with 1
2 is 1. solid ranking for the most part. i'd put watershed above 7 and 8 but 10 is definitely not last, it's 7th
1 is 1 and most of the others are solid 3.5-4's
2 is 1 . Bottom 4 are pretty much correct. I'd have 3 at about 6 though
1 is 1. 10 is 10. 2, 3, and 4 are all tied for me right after Still Life.
The stuff in between is always changing for me, so overall I agree with your ranking
fine list but 'a fair judgement' is a really great song bro
The only song on that album I really dig is Wreath
2,1,6,5,4,3,9,10,8,7 is my ranking

how could you ever say BWP isn't interesting WOAH
10 is 6, 4 is 1

I think you mistakenly spelled "Still Life" as "Heritage". It's cool bro, typos happen.
"Fuck the band"
"I think you mistakenly spelled "Still Life" as "Heritage". It's cool bro, typos happen."
Nope, I didn't.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose. I gave Heritage a 4, so it is good in my opinion. It is just I have so many higher rated Opeth releases.
1 is 1
agreed with climactic. 5 is 1
