11.09.13 | If you are doing the social networking route, try to make your promotion engaging and genuine. It will remain memorable and people will be stoked with the interaction. The whole "share and like" approach breeds numbers pretty well but it doesn't result in many people actually checking out what you're doing.
if you are sending promotional material to blogs and websites to be checked out, proof read your writing (somewhat obviously) before sending. Also it really helps to tailor these messages to the website rather than mass mailing. People tend to appreciate the extra effort and a bit of background knowledge of the people you are dealing with can go a long long way as it shows you are also stoked on what they do.
Above all though, just try and get out and play shows, have fun and be genuine. With a little luck people will be receptive to your music and you as a band and good things will happen for you!
Good luck! |

11.09.13 | @Micah, you're number 1 on the list bro
@Danielnight, Thanks man, appreciate it! We're going to try and do all 3 routes, we have a friend who is a pretty good promoter who works at a pretty big venue and is going to try and get us on the bill with a huge band but we need to actually release some stuff and gain some recognition |

11.09.13 | Daniel's advice is pretty much identical to what I'd say. Good luck to you, mate! Just remember to always take any criticism you'll garner, both positive and negative, with a clear head, and try to interact with your audience as much as possible. Regardless, can't wait to hear it! |

11.10.13 | Ah yes, omitting the bit about humility when it comes to criticism is oddly fitting of myself.
I'm just happy to see a list with Toe on it. Excited to hear the outcome of this! |

11.10.13 | Thanks guys. It actually means a lot! In the next week or so I should finishing up with it and posting it! What happened really, is we are recording it in our small little home-studio, we did drum tracks for everything and one guitarist did his tracks for everything, and the other did his for just one song, we then pooled money together and bought a few better mics for guitar recording, and are going to re-do just about everything now with the experience we have. But we were approached by a good friend/promoter with a long-shot opportunity to play a massive show, but to approach the venue and other bands he needs some solid material, so we are going to release the one song as a pre-release type single to get some notoriety of sorts. |

11.10.13 | It'll also give people a reason to check you out live and give people a reference point of what to expect, as words/promo stuff can be quite misleading. Going in blind can turn a surprising amount of people off of checking a band out early on a bill so having something, even a cruddy bedroom recording, is better than nothing. As it stands having a decent quality recording will only strengthen your position.
Do you mind telling us who it is you are hoping to support? I understand if you don't want to jinx it, it just sounds very exciting! |

11.10.13 | On the hush-hush. It's Mogwai.
But don't get me wrong, the single is of pretty good quality. We are just re-doing everything for the full release which actually would be out before the hopeful show, but we just need to release the song to get shit going |

11.10.13 | Hot-damn! I am sure I echo the sentiments of many people here when I say I'll have my fingers crossed that you get it!
Definitely post it up here when it's ready. |
