09.30.13 | didnt blow my mind but it was really fucking great and basically the best way it could have ended. jesse choking todd was so fucking satisfying, as was walt shooting jack in the head. almost teared up at jesse driving away screaming in happiness. also loved the flashback when walt was at his old house, and the gretchen and elliot scene was genius. |

09.30.13 | It was fine. What people don't seem to understand is that Ozymandias was the climax. For all real tense and purpose the show was over then. These last two episodes were exposition.
People might be disappointed because Breaking Bad has constantly delivered twists, layers, surprises... It built upon itself while expanding its empire. This final episode(s) was the show wrapping up. Ask yourself; would you have enjoyed Jesse dying? Skylar getting capped by Walt, Marie killing Walt, Holly getting kidnapped, Brock getting in the crossfire? These would all have been twists that no one wanted. As BB has always done, it played its hand naturally. And so the final chapter must be fitting, not twisting. |

the show never forced anything, if it wrote a character into a corner, then it ended, they never pushed anything beyond realism

yes yes yes. I think the people who were disappointed in an ending that wasn't shocking have the wrong expectations. Yes, it's great when there's a really well-executed and satisfying twist or surprise in a show/movie. But any options for that here would've resulted in a less satisfying conclusion to a 6-year series that has just been spectacular. It's so much more beneficial for the series as a whole to have such a great conclusion to everything and everyone we've been so invested in for years. |

09.30.13 | My friend told me that he didn't like how Walt got such a great ending; he'd rather just have Walt get shot in the head by Jack, which would be more realistic. I had to explain to him that Walt got a shit ending. Just because the last episode worked out in Walt's favor, doesn't mean Walt didn't still get fucked over. Honestly, it was the best finale of any show I have ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. Everything got worked out and destroyed in the end...and all at the same time.
The best thing in the episode was seeing the "hitmen" turn out to be Badger and Skinny Pete. It's nice to see that, amidst all the darkness, Breaking Bad still never lost its sense of humor. |

it was completely unnecessary, we already got it. he poisoned her with the ricin. the show didnt need to tell it to us through walt pointing it out.

09.30.13 | I can't help thinking the ending was too clean. Like Walt should have suffered more in some way. The music at the very end threw me off and I'm not sure I liked the upbeat quality of it. I'll have to watch the finale again just in case my feelings change.
|
YourDarkAffected
09.30.13 | Also that his family will end up getting his money. I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand, it's kinda cool that all the money he made over the course of the show wasn't wasted, but on the other hand, it seems wrong that he deceivingly gave it to them through Gretchen and Elliot when they've been outspoken about not wanting it as it's blood money and represents all the terrible things that have happened to them. Seems like Walter ended up winning in the end more than he should have. |
YourDarkAffected
09.30.13 | and it seemed the way the show was heading was that Walt would pay for everything he's done, but instead it feels like everyone else paid for it, and he died content like he had some sort of redemption in the end. I think in some way they should have shown him regretting all that he'd done rather than still feeling it was all justified. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that, and it kills me to feel that way about a show that I've loved so much over the last few years, but it was just underwhelming for me. |

09.30.13 | Gus watches Mike choke the last member as Don Eladio dies. Walt watches Jesse choke Todd as he shoots Jack. parallels, bitch. Jack also kills hank and Walt reacts like Gus when Don Eladio killed his friend/partner
Also really want to stress that the last 2/3 of this episode were so surreal (walt appearing like a ghost - a symbol for greed, pride, id etc - in the mansion/with, todd (who, aside from dressing like old walt, was almost done growing a goatee too haha) and lydia in the cafe, etc. Like the fact that he somehow found badger and skinny pete, got the ricin in the packet (all doable, I agree, but still add to grand and almost over the top luck of walter white. He's the devil like Jesse put it - smarter, luckier..just better than you).
I feel like his end might have been in that car, either caught or dead. He was talking to heisenberg as walt - saying just get me home ill do the rest - and we saw him magically reach New Mexico, say his goodbye to skylark, give his son the distance he needs, ultimately saved jesse, died by his own contraption, etc.
I love how Jesse stood as the symbol of every terrible repercussion of Walt's actions - a battered, bruised prisoner.
Also the fact that it's only when Walt finally disregards money and shoots Jack point blank that Jesse frees himself from his shackles.
Incredible, incredible show. Phenomenal finale in how subtle it was in all the RIGHT breaking bad ways. An episode only Vince Gilligan could write/direct. |

09.30.13 | The finale was superb, I loved it! I had only one question though. When Walt said that he hired the best hitmen, who did he refer to? First I thought that Gale hasn't died somehow and he must be the hitman. There were lasers, and Saul said scientists love lasers. But then it seemed a bit silly, but there were almost no other options. Then I thought of Bogdan, but then he has those eyebrows, man, it must be living hell snipin' with those ones.
That's why I think Brock was the hitman... actually he wasn't a hitman, just a boy playin' with them lazers. Brilliant writing, loved it! |

bakkermaarten007
09.30.13 | It was a very satisfying finale, though in this episode there were a atypical Breaking Bad matters. For instance: how could Walt have known the neo-nazis would let him park his car in front of the building where they 'negotiated'? How could he have known the walls were thin enough to shoot through? And how likely it would have been for cops to patrol in front of Skylars new house? Yet he stood there to watch Flynn go inside. But I can't complain, best show ever. |

Walt had always a lot of luck, and I think in the end he didn't really have anything to loose. That's why he counted on some luck when he visited Skyler, and parked the car. |

Though it was reasonably funny, I was actually disappointed they weren't real hitmen. Would have been a last showcase of Heisenberg's power that once was. |
pjquinones747
09.30.13 | Some of that is the flawless Walt-intuition, but he probably prepared with a gun powerful enough and having powerful enough bullets to penetrate a wall stronger than that of which he would predict it to have. |
