|Top Ten Curb Episodes|
Top ten episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The Cold Vein
The Anonymous Doner;
"Oh, Ted Dansons's anonymous!"
"How do you know?"
"Well, he told me, but he told me not to tell anyone about it. That's how he likes to do it. Makes him feel better about himself." when in the context of figuring out who came on a teddy bear, this is the absolute funniest thing ever on Curb.
The Special Section;
Seeing Larry use the excuse of his mother's death to get out of many situations (including a bat mitzvah, small talk with an acquaintance, and re-obtaining a mantra) is genius. And the ending, with Larry getting taken out of his home by the cops for accidentally giving out counterfeit bills while yelling his mantra ("fuck me" in some other language, unbeknownst to Larry until his friend spills the beans) is comedy gold.
The Christ Nail;
A bit of a slow burner, this episode is entire worth it just for the ending scene with Larry getting chased by a tall, muscular man named Jesus wielding a cross. His antics involving the revelation to Jeff's daughter about the Tooth Fairy and his "fascination" with bras leads this to be one of the funniest episodes of the show.
Will Rap For Food
In which Larry devises a theory that the Weatherman lies about false weather to get the golf course for himself. This episode earns the #4 slot on this list for making Larry look like a conspiring nut (the cane really helps with this) as he walks around the town and golf course insisting that his theory is true. Also, the mishaps with Marty's Russian cousin are downright hilarious.
Killed by School
The N Word;
Featuring some of the best antics of the Black family (go figure), this episode is a great showcase of how Larry is simply a victim of circumstance. It's a bit of a complicated episode, and tough to really highlight the funnies, but I will say this: all of the Black's freaking out after hearing the word "nigger" uttered is too funny.
Featuring a brilliant guest spot by Rob Corddry (a seemingly innocent and honestly likable sex ofender), hilarity ensues when he is invited by Larry to a dinner party of his. In the end, when Sammy (Jeff's daughter) is choking on food, and Susie asks if anyone knows mouth-to-mouth, leave it to the sex offender to be the only one who raises his hand. Amazing.
The Shrimp Incident; After botching an interview with an HBO executive over a dispute about his stolen kung-pow shrimp, Larry ends up at a poker game at Julia Louis-Dreyfus' house. Unfortunately, his first and last, because he ends up yelling at an incredibly effeminate (*cough* gay in closet) man, calling him a cunt for not going in with an ace high, and ruining the whole gathering.
Things That Happen at Night
In which Larry is never satisfied with the doctor's waiting room policy ("me first is a good policy!"). He also makes himself look like a bum for not having cash on him for the toll booths and fires his interior decorator because she will not give the number that was left on his machine (but fuzzed out due to bad connection) due to her personal policy. While it may not sound outstanding on paper, the interactions of the characters in this one makes it one of my personal favourite.
"Mommy mommy! That bald man's in the bathroom and there's something HARD in his pants!" - Larry proceeds to jump out the window. Classic. (BTW, it was a doll's head...)
To the Depths... In Degradation
Larry sits in at an incest survivor group with and old ex-girlfriend of his, and ends up faking a story of his own incest endeavor with his uncle, seemingly to fit in with the group. Meanwhile, Cheryl gets a role in the Vagina Monologues which is directed by a member of the group. When Larry shows up in Cheryl's dressing room with his Uncle and introduces him to her, she proceeds to freak the fuck out. His innocent confusion is part of what makes it so damn funny.
