09.26.13 | I don't know what it could be about. I thought the Shining ended perfectly |

09.26.13 | Is it? That could be cool but I'd be so scared it would taint my interpretation of the 1st one |

09.26.13 | No I was wrong it is a sequel |

09.26.13 | The Shining 2. What a joke. Will still read it though. |

09.26.13 | hopefully he has a good reason/story for this and not just a cash-in on the classic.
kinda like what Bret Easton Ellis did with Less Than Zero/Imperial Bedrooms... ugh |

09.26.13 | I don't know anything besides what the front flap says. Danny Torrence as an adult now...haunted by his past...meets a little girl with the shining power....crazy vamp-like people that feed of the shining power...battle of good vs evil.
Sounds like it could go either way. The few reviews I've read have all been quite positive, the only criticisms being that it pales in comparison to the original on the scare factor, but is a decent continuation. |

09.27.13 | I just wish King would even attempt at being "horror" again. His more modern works are just so tame, most of them are like 90% character development and 10% plot. |

09.27.13 | I love the Shining and while I am worried that the second one is a bit unneeded, King has a way of making completely asinine concepts turn into fantastic books (Cell, From a Buick 8, Duma Key). I am chipping away at The Stand again in between all of my school work and work work, so I will probably start this book over winter break. |

09.27.13 | @hyperion1001: some of King's best work come after the late 80's: From a Buick 8, Dreamcatcher, Bag of Bones, Cell, Duma Key, Insomnia and the Green Mile were all released during that point of his career. |

09.27.13 | Insomnia is terrible though. Easily my least favorite of his and I've read almost all. Duma Key was
pretty great though, and From A Buick 8 was entertaining.
In my opinion if I had to pick my favorites of his I would say The Stand is his best book, while
Salem's Lot is probably his most scary.
I would also highly recommend the Dark Tower series to anyone, it takes dedication to get through but
it so worth it. The last two books are a bit meh but reading the whole journey is worth it. |
