07.23.13 | If you guys could explain why that would be awesome. Thanks |

07.23.13 | Stick with mid-era Converge. Stuff like YFM, WFCC, and PTES. It's the best, man. |
Uranium
07.23.13 | No Heroes because it's easily top 3 but consistently regarded by sputdik as their worst |
DegausserGuernica24
07.23.13 | YFM is very dark and emotional in contrast to anything else out of Converge's discography. |
Gwyn.
07.23.13 | You Fail Me, and Axe to Fall. |

07.23.13 | "No Heroes because it's easily top 3 but consistently regarded by sputdik as their worst"
the debut is fucking horrible and i think everyone agrees that is worse |

07.23.13 | The one where Jacob Bannon screams and the band plays loud. |
BisayaBoi
07.23.13 | So if You Fail Me is their darkest/most emotional album how would you describe their other albums? |
Uranium
07.23.13 | "the debut is fucking horrible and i think everyone agrees that is worse"
Very true. NH is looked at as one of their worst albums, I should say.

07.23.13 | You Fail Me is them going in a more straightforward punk and hardcore direction, where Axe to Fall and All We Love We Leave Behind is them getting a bit heavier and cleaner in both execution and production. All the albums before Jane Doe are more primitive, but still hard-hitting and landmarks of the genre, save for Halo. Halo is still good, but definitely where they got their original "Hardcore kids with leftover Slayer riffs" reputation. |
JustinKing
07.23.13 | And No Heroes is probably their most straightforward and metal-influenced album. |
BisayaBoi
07.23.13 | @JustinKing That was very helpful. |

07.23.13 | Thank you, thank you. |

07.23.13 | Axe to fall is what's gotten me into them, and You Fail Me is their best. |

07.23.13 | axe to fall/petitioning empty sky |
Pennywise_M
07.23.13 | Justin said it. But Halo is pretty fucking good imo |
demigod!
07.23.13 | Petitioning the Empty Sky. it's got nearly the same level of chaos and musicianship as Jane Doe and just as amazing riffs. their 2nd best album IMO. |
conesmoke
07.23.13 | I love 'All we love we leave behind'. Soo much gorgeousness expressed through hardcore. |
Pennywise_M
07.23.13 | Halo In A Haystack, When Forever Comes Crashing, You Fail Me. |
dimsim3478
07.23.13 | With their last 2 records being a little more on the digestible side, I hope they do something rabidly indigestible like "Jane Doe" next. |
conesmoke
07.23.13 | Yeah, converge black metal for the win. AM I RIGHT!? |
conesmoke
07.23.13 | it ahh... turns out i wasn't right. |

07.23.13 | All We Love We Leave Behind should be the next one you listen to - it's their most accessible but they haven't softened up or anything, it's as intense as anything else they've done (save for Jane Doe which is just another level completely). Then try either Axe to Fall or You Fail Me, ATF is more progressive and diverse whereas YFM is darker and probably closer to AWLWLB in general sound and atmosphere. Then listen to No Heroes which has a slightly thrashier sound but it's one of the weaker Converge efforts unfortunately, great songs but some not so great ones as well. Then listen to Petitioning the Empty Sky, more straight-up hardcore, not as polished as their post-Jane Doe stuff but some amazing tunes (especially The Saddest Day). Then try When Forever Comes Crashing and only if you really love all of that listen to Halo in a Haystack for the one or two decent tracks. Also, some of the songs of Unloved and Weeded Out (Downpour in particular) are amazing, give those a listen once you've been through the rest. Enjoy! |

07.23.13 | Basically, pick either Axe to fall, All we love or You Fail me. |
BisayaBoi
07.23.13 | I'm going with All We Love because I was listening to the stream on YouTube and I couldn't stop replaying it. It's so good. I'll go from there. Thanks a lot guys! |

07.23.13 | Who cares, just listen to everything soon |
Pennywise_M
07.23.13 | Amen chucky. I did and have no regrets |
BisayaBoi
07.24.13 | I am going to listen to all their albums (except maybe No Heroes and Halo). I just wanted to know how each of their albums differed from another that's all. |
Cipieron
07.24.13 | i don't understand people who are like this...
just go to youtube and look up the songs. are you in danger of physical harm if you don't listen to albums in a certain order? just listen to them for fucks sake |
eternium
07.24.13 | Petitioning the Empty Sky. |
BisayaBoi
07.24.13 | @Cipieron Haha why are you mad? I already got All We Love today. Is it so taboo just to find out the differences between Converge's albums? Unless you're telling me all of their albums are exactly like Jane Doe. I don't have time to listen to their entire discography on YouTube in a day I have things to do. I'm asking a favor from these kind people to save time. :)

climactic
07.24.13 | as a broad generalization, their older stuff is more hardcore-y and messy while their newer stuff is more metalcore with tighter production and performances
both rule |
MO
07.24.13 | none of them |
amemento
07.24.13 | halo in a haystack or somehing lol |
