InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | It seems like 80% of the footballing world is routing for Dortmund. Hell, I love an underdog story but not when it's against my team, haha |
henryChinaski
05.25.13 | This is gonna be great. Hoping for many goals. |
henryChinaski
05.25.13 | I think Bayern deserve the title a little more when you look at how they played in the league and against Juve and Barca. Also it's their 3rd final in four years. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | Any punters out there today there's some very tasty odds on Dortmund. £1 on a Borussia Dortmund 1-0 win gets you £17 back. If I wasn't a Bayern fan, I wouldn't hesitate to put that on. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | "I think Bayern deserve the title a little more when you look at how they played in the league and against Juve and Barca."

05.25.13 | I've said from the beginning that Bayern will win it, and I stick by that, but I think that out of all the teams in the competition, Dortmund are the most likely to give them a run for their money. Should be a good game. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | "Lewandowski, Błaszczykowski, Piszczek."
The three best Polish players, probably. I hear Obraniak is supposed to be really good too but I haven't seen him play much. |
jefflebowski
05.25.13 | two amazing, exciting, highly likeable sides with cool managers. what's not to love? |

05.25.13 | also, i'm not sure whether i have a bigger football-crush on schweinsteiger or reus |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | I love both of them, incredible players.
I hope Bayern can win so Jupp Heynckes can lift another Champions League before he retires. |
jefflebowski
05.25.13 | thing is, as much as bayern have had dreadful luck in finals and i definitely feel for them, you've gotta think that they'll be just as strong if not stronger next year, whereas this dortmund team is really a one-off who are gonna lose many of their best players, so it's really their only chance |
xenocide.
05.25.13 | @Infamous: there are also some good goalkeepers: Boruc, Szczęsny, Kuszczak. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | "you've gotta think that they'll be just as strong if not stronger next year"
Maybe, maybe not. With the managerial merry-go-round that's occurring this summer I think Europe is going to become more competitive than ever, especially with the rise of PSG and now Monaco as major players on the international stage. Barcelona seem to be on the verge of acquiring Neymar, Real Madrid want Bale, Mourinho will definitely spend a fortune on new players at Chelsea, Juventus will be stronger, Man City will want to improve on their lacklustre two seasons in Europe... it'll be interesting, for sure.
Besides, Dortmund have received 37 mil for Gotze and should they also lose Lewandowski (who I'd imagine will leave for around 20 mil), they'll have adequate sums of money to sign replacements, not even taking into consideration the revenues they'll have got from advancing this far in the CL. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | oh yeah, I forgot about them, xeno! Boruc used to be great in the SPL. |
DannyChrisnanto
05.25.13 | Dortmund cos supporting the underdog is always more fun |
DannyChrisnanto
05.25.13 | Also considering how Bayern will most likely continue to do well in Europe for the next few seasons and how Dortmund might fall apart with Gotze leaving and possibly others leaving this summer, this could be their only CL final in a whileee |
Fortheloveofmusic
05.25.13 | No matter what happens, I'm interested to see Gotze's reaction. Will be refuse to celebrate no matter who wins? I'm still going for Dortmund winning 2-1. Lewandowski and Reus with the goals for Dortmund and Muller with Bayern's.
And this is my pick for the best goal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Qmd7K1Pp8 |
bakkermaarten007
05.25.13 | Normally I support Bayern, but after they signed Götze (which was a pretty dick move), I wouldn't mind Dortmund to win either. Plus, Jürgen Klopp is such a charismatic figure. I don't think Dortmund is chanceless, they know Bayern through and through. |
henryChinaski
05.25.13 | Nah definitely not chanceless. I'd say the form on the day will be crucial in the end. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | I'd imagine Gotze would celebrate regardless of whether or not he made the final, like JT last year for Chelsea, he's been an integral part of their European run. Sure, he might get a chance to win it at Bayern but you never know. |
bakkermaarten007
05.25.13 | I wonder how these players get a good night rest before such a crucial event, I even have to take sleeping pills before an exam haha |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | I'm sure the majority of the Bayern players will be less nervous, being accustomed to CL final appearances in recent years. |

05.25.13 | But yeah, I had a knot in my stomach last night, and I'm not anywhere near Wembley! |

05.25.13 | don't get me wrong, i love the rest of the team, and it's great to see schweini and lahm win something for once, but robben and ribery are, for all their talent, complete dickheads to the core |

05.25.13 | What jefflebowski said is true, they are like aparted from the group, especially Robben |
BroFro
05.25.13 | Robben is the worst finisher i've ever seen. he was in position to score about 5 goals today, and the one he did score was the weakest most pathetic little dink ever. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | Nobody is good enough to score 100% of their chances, plus I dunno if you noticed but Weidenfeller had a solid game between the sticks.
All that matters is he won the game, with a goal and an assist and a man of the match performance to boot. I really dunno what there is left to bitch about him. Redemption after his disappointments of last year in Dortmund and the Final. |
BroFro
05.25.13 | yeah but he usually misses 100% of his chances. and for somebody that gets as many chances as him, thats significant |
jefflebowski
05.25.13 | i just can't forget what a disgrace he was in the last world cup final, where if he wasn't attempting

who'd listen.
brilliant player though |
BroFro
05.25.13 | ^this
his attitude and theatrics are typically disgraceful, he can't finish, but other than that he's a terrific player. and you could tell how much this game meant to him, so props there as well |
facupm
05.25.13 | im starting to get alarmed by the german team for the next WC
plus, they kicked us out last two WC, and on 2010 they destroyed us.
Im argentinean btw |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | Well that's just blatantly not true. Robben scored the goal to knock Dortmund out of the DFB cup, scored one goal per game against the greatest club side in history and played fantastically against a team that went unbeaten in Serie A and claimed successive titles.
As I said, nobody in world football is even remotely close to 100% finishing. Even Lionel Messi is probably under 50% conversion rate. What matters is his overall performance. And, for the record, he has been simply sublime this season, improving on his weaknesses; for one, his predictability has decreased to devastating effect, and elsewhere his tracking-back has improved enormously. He is a far more complete player nowadays. |
InfamousGrouse
05.25.13 | @facupm,
Yeah, I remember the pre-match pundits tagging Argentina as big favourites in that match. Schweinsteiger in that match was absolutely flawless against Messi, not to mention, if memory serves, he set up two goals. |

05.25.13 | true |
jefflebowski
05.25.13 | bayern have got to be one of the most complete teams i've ever seen, even more so than barcelona circa 2010 (though lacking in as much star quality), and they're just a machine when on top form. From the quarter finals onward they haven't conceded in open play - that's 5 games against the top club sides in the world. incredible |
BroFro
05.25.13 | goals/shots percentage from the past year
robben: 12%
messi: 30%
in case anyone was wondering.
look, robben is a good player and always has been. he's just a weak finisher |
jefflebowski
05.25.13 | to be fair pretty much anyone looks like a bad finisher compared to messi, he's a machine |
facupm
05.25.13 | yeah but lets face it he's a forward or a winger at least
he would be messi if he finished like him, but well he just doesnt, and he fails also at the time of assisting, he takes wrong decisions usually
but he is an excellent player for what he is |
zakalwe
05.25.13 | No matter what form the German teams are nothing but machines, the international team had a rocky patch for about 10mins then came back stronger, more workmanlike and exemplary then ever. Superb footballing nation and to top it all one of the best places in the world for a beer. |
