2013 Shows
These are all the awesome shows I've been to this year and some upcoming rshows I'm really rrrlooking forward to. |
1 | | Neutral Milk Hotel In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Saw Jeff Mangum solo in January. He sounded great, but it only made me want to
see the full band more. Hopefully they add some more tour dates for this year. |
2 | | Letlive. Fake History
My second time seeing letlive and first time seeing them headline. The venue was
really small and the crowd was crazy. Was hoping to hear some new material, but
they only played stuff off of fake history. |
3 | | HRVRD The Inevitable and I
These guys are so damn good live. They opened for Letlive and stole the show. |
4 | | Busdriver Arguments With Dreams
Busdriver puts on one of the craziest one man shows. He live mixes all his stuff while
rapping/singing and the crazy light show only made it better. Great opener for Aesop. |
5 | | Aesop Rock Skelethon
Aesop showed up with some help Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz and they put on a great
show. He did plenty of great cuts off of Skelethon and lots of older material. And he
had Busdriver play the barber during Racing Stripes |
6 | | Hannibal Buress
One of my favorite comics. Part of his set consisted of playing rap songs and making
fun of the lyrics. |
7 | | Tenacious D Rize of the Fenix
This was an old school acoustic show, just JB, KG, and 2 acoustic guitars. The way
the D was meant to be heard. They were funny as hell, though I feel like I would have
enjoyed it way more if I saw them when I was 15. |
8 | | Bad Rabbits American Love
Saw these guys for free on the campus by my place. The sound was pretty awful
though so I couldn't really hear the vocals. I'm seeing these guys headline in July
though so It's all good. |
9 | | Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city
Also part of the free show. Kendrick had tons of energy and his setlist was full of all
his best tracks, but again the sound really fucked it up. You could barely hear him
sometimes. Glad it was free or I would have been pissed. |
10 | | Beartooth
Saw these guys at a house show in my area. It's Caleb Shomo's (ex- attack attack)
new band. Definitely way better than attack attack but they were still pretty generic. |
11 | | Lakota De Kai Heavy Teeth
A solid local hardcore band. They opened for Beartooth and also opened up for
Citycop which i will talk about later. |
12 | | Smoke Screen Turquoise EP
Local opener for Danny Brown. They really impressed me mainly because of their
awesome beat choice. |
13 | | Kitty Pryde D.A.I.S.Y. Rage
Opened for Danny. She sounded ok and kept her set pretty short so it didn't get too
boring. |
14 | | Danny Brown XXX
My third time seeing him, but first time headlining. I don't think I've ever had more fun
at a show. It was just a straight up dance party for an hour straight as Danny played
banger after banger after banger. |
15 | | Citycop Seasons
Just saw these guys last night at a house show in Ashtabula (their hometown.) They
tore up this guys kitchen as did all the other great local bands that played (one of which was a powerviolence band made up of 16
year olds). |
16 | | Cakes Da Killa The Eulogy
Saw him for free at the university out in the middle of nowhere Ohio. He was nice as
hell, funny, and sounded amazing. He also brought along a dude backup dancer that
was twerkin it the whole show. |
17 | | Upcoming Shows
|
18 | | Schoolboy Q Habits and Contradictions
Seeing the whole Black Hippy crew in about a week. Going with my little cousin so my
aunt bought my ticket hellz yeah cause this is expensive. |
19 | | Ab-Soul Control System |
20 | | Jay Rock Follow Me Home |
21 | | Death Grips ExMilitary
Just found out these guys were coming a couple days ago and snatched up a ticket.
Not sure what to expect from their live show but it should be cool. |
22 | | Rat King Larva
Never heard this band but they are opening for death grips |
23 | | LL Cool J Radio
Going with my parents to the king of the mic tour. I don't care too much about LL or
Ice Cube but I'm really looking forward to Public Enemy and De La Soul |
24 | | Ice Cube Death Certificate |
25 | | Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet |
26 | | De La Soul 3 Feet High and Rising |
27 | | Deafheaven Sunbather
I'm in love with Sunbather so I'm so stoked for this. It has the potential to be the
best show I've seen all year |
28 | | Marriages Kitsune
Opening for Deafheaven but haven't listened to them yet |
29 | | Mastodon The Hunter
Will probably hit this up even though It's a little expensive. I've never seen Mastodon
headline and I've never seen Machine Head |
30 | | Machine Head Unto The Locust |
|
