Montreal?

I'm currently stuck between two university choices. When it comes down to it, there's one which very slightly edges the other one based on social life, quality of teaching and general prospects and is the one I?ve been generally set on for a while. But if I go to the other one I get to spend 6 months in Montréal in my second year, which is something which has really interested me for a while. So to those in the know, what's it like to live there and would it be worth it? List is things which attract me to the city.
1Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

It?s a bilingual city so I can tap into my first two languages and practise my French,
which would be especially useful if I were to move to France the following year
(which is very likely). Only problem is that Quebecois French accents are a bitch to
understand and their idioms are hilarious. But the accent is kinda cool on the
surface
2Arcade Fire
The Suburbs

Seems like it?s got a great vibe and great culture.
3Blue Hawaii
Untogether

Canada looks gorgeous and I?ve been interested in going living there for a while now
4Beheading of a King
Quasar: Preserving Legacy

Cons: Not a place particularly big on football
