Though, in all seriousness, has disappointed me a lot after season 4. They're mandatory villains get less interesting and their plots and themes feel more half-assed every year. Season 7 started off great, but after Issak died, I felt like everything went downhill. Still a entertaining, but I had to force myself to finish it really. This is just my opinion, of course though. |

Yeah, he was really interesting. And the plot twist when you found out he was gay and was avenging his boyfriend- that's when I felt like he is the best Dexter villain since Brian and Trinity, and the reason for that is because it made Issak look more like an anti-hero searching for justice.

I feel the opposite actually. I like Dexter best when he's alone and embracers his sociopathic/anti-social personality. I think it makes him appear more sinister and believable as a serial killer. I find that when other people get involved in that aspect of his life it just feels awkward- but it makes for good plot opportunities as well. |

Now that he's close with Deb, he says a ton of really silly stuff to her - their dialogues are honestly really puzzling. Because he's more talkative as a person, I guess, but that's what makes me uncomfortable, because it feels so forced. |

02.11.13 | I don't know about anyone else, but I felt like in season 7 the writers tried to make the audience go against Dexter. Even though he kills bad people, he is still a serial killer. Having him go against his code by trying to kill Laguerta and not killing Hannah made it seem like he was the bad guy. I wouldn't be surprised if they end the show with Deb killing him. |

02.11.13 | The Doakes storyline executed in Season 2 happened way too soon. You could tell they didn't really know where they wanted to develop things, so they took the easy way out. That should've built over several more seasons, instead it was a rushed, sloppy mess. |

Seasons 1 and 4 are amazing, 2 and 3 are really good, 7 was iffy but closer to good than bad, 5 was iffy with more bad than good, and 6 is incredibly unimpressive. |

Yeah, I understand what you mean, I liked that element as well, but I much prefer to see Dexter alone and questioning social conventions and being awkward around others, I don't know why but I find it both amusing and engaging.

Yeah, I caught that too. This season felt like it was the first time that the writers wanted us to judge dexter's behavior rather than accept it. I liked the fact that it traumatized deb and it made her show him how his behavior is more destructive than heroic.

And 7 could've been one of the best, but I agree that it went totally downhill after Isaak died. And Deb's involvement started to get old. Pretty excited to see how they finish up the series, though. There might still be a good ballsy season left in those writers. Fingers crossed |

but, weird layers of psychoanalysis aside, the portrayal of the character by Styles is just brilliant. I really don't like her as an actress most of the time, but I thought she was really, really good. I liked the writers bringing in that sort of character too, because Dexter needed humanizing, and I think they were flirting with developing him into a character that was too cold, too monstrous, too alien to able to empathize with, but they fixed all that in season 5 by adding another dimension to his character. I mean I don't really discuss this show with anyone other than my parents, so I guess I'm out of touch with how the general public feels about season X vs. season Y, but 5 > the rest for me, easily.

They've had such a lack of character development lately that I've gotten very frustrated. Even Dexter has learned very little over the last few years, despite the awful things that have happened to him. It seems the show favors dramatic flairs over realistic things-- and yeah yeah, I know it's a show that isn't meant to be realistic, but things are so blown out of proportion in Dexter that it's hard to take seriously. |

I guess it's that she's been exactly the same in that regard for the whole show, and now it just feels like she's mocking herself when she says "holy shit fuckstorm!," etc etc.
Yeah, Quinn always has potential. And then the cycle restarts... It really bothered me that they just dropped the whole Nadia storyline. That action rendered the whole storyline as useless, especially since Quinn went through the same exact thing in season 4!! |
