WeepingBanana 01.24.13	JJ Abrams makes some good shit, but there's really nothing distinct about him other than his knack for cryptic trailers. While Super 8 was a great movie, he was basically making a Spielberg movie. Again, I'm not complaining because Spielberg movies are great, but it was kind of annoying to see JJ Abrams fall back on signature Spielberg style, shot for shot. It has no bearing on my enjoyment of the movie as an artistic outing, but I just couldn't stop thinking about it in the back of my mind. Even if it was intended as an homage.

theacademy 01.24.13	@trebor: with the exception of super 8 and a bunch of fringe/lost that he probably had no part in, abrams CANNOT create characters or translate human emotions into depicted conversation. @andcas i agree with weeping's assessment of super 8 (and yours too i guess) but i liked that it was a big gay love letter to spielberg.
