01.10.13 | Villa.....Torres is an overrated spud |
Keyblade
01.10.13 | lol it's no debate. even in torres' prime villa was better. torres is just crap now. |
cirq
01.10.13 | thank you, thats exactly what i said. his main point was that torres was in the running for the world player award in 2008 |
Keyblade
01.10.13 | dude is spain's all time leading scorer. torres has nothing on him, never did and never will. |

01.10.13 | David Villa nigga you should kick your friend in the fucking mouth and introduce him to 2013. |
Sleaper
01.10.13 | torres. his vision is amazing and can read defence very very well. He knows where he has to be at the right time. |
GnarlyShillelagh
01.10.13 | Pawpnbawtlez' endorsement of Torres should be basically the final nail in the coffin of this argument. |
JerzyNebraska
01.10.13 | Torres's peak was at liverpool. Enough said. david villa rules. |
Chrisjon89
01.10.13 | overall, Villa. but Torres in his prime at Liverpool was at least on the level. dude was deadly. how quickly people forget how he destroyed United in the era where they kept clean sheets for fun and had Vidic + Ferdinand in form at the back. Or when Liverpool went to the Bernabeu and won 4-0.
but yeah Villa. |
mifzal
01.10.13 | Villa is the best
i'm a big soccer A/C! |
SIMBOLIC
01.10.13 | Sure Torres was ranked the third best player in the world in 09, but has tanked at Chelsea. Never really been anything spesh there. Villa is and always has been class |
Aids
01.10.13 | I really like Torres and think Villa is overrated, but I mean "lol Torres" pretty much refutes any argument.
lol Torres, Villa is better |
JamieTwort
01.10.13 | Villa, definitely. |
Satellite
01.10.13 | villa is definitely better when it comes to running around aimlessly, but he doesn't hold a candle to torres' flopping skills. idk good question. |

01.10.13 | Villa much better, Barca got him for a bargain 35m.
Torres 50m haha. Liverpool were laughing (until bought Carroll) |
ButteryBiscuitBass
01.10.13 | David Villa...before he broke his leg he was phenomenal. |
Chrisjon89
01.10.13 | Carroll for 35 mil was insanity. Torres at 50 was a risk that didn't pay off, but if he had gotten back to his Liverpool 08/09 form in that Chelsea team it would've been worth the gamble.
What do they do now? Cut their losses and buy Falcao? |
ButteryBiscuitBass
01.10.13 | Falcao won't go to Chelsea. |
AliW1993
01.10.13 | Both are past their best and in pretty poor form, but I'd have to say Villa. Torres at his peak may have been margainly better but Villa's managed to sustain his form for much longer.
I can't see Falcao going to Chelsea. Money aside, why would he want to? Despite what many ignorant deluded Englishmen like to believe, the Premier League is streets behind La Liga and the Bundesliga in pretty much every aspect. |
Chrisjon89
01.10.13 | I think the EPL is a better league than La Liga overall. Real Madrid and Barcelona are way out front of everyone in Europe, yes, but they're massive outliers. The TV rights deal and the way other clubs in Spain are struggling with debt means they just eat up the competition. It's just a two horse race every time and the gap is usually massive to third place so cool to see Athletico up there this year and I hope they keep that up.
Dunno about the Bundesliga. What I've seen is very entertaining. Overall I find the EPL more entertaining and competitive across the board than other leagues I've seen. The quality has dipped a bit in recent years and I think the gap has closed, but how fucking entertaining is a team winning the league in the final seconds on the final day of the season with two goals in stoppage time? Where else do you get that? Not to mention all the subplots about teams possibly getting relegated etc.
Dunno if Falcao will go to Chelsea but they want him. Can't see him staying at Athletico beyond the next transfer window. |
AliW1993
01.10.13 | The Premier League is certainly great for entertainment, but in terms of quality it's streets behind La Liga and I think the Bundesliga has overtaken it recently too. The defending in particular is abysmal.
I also don't buy into this idea that there are only two good teams in Spain. Sure, Barca and Real are the best by a country mile (though Atletico and to a lesser extent Malaga seem to be joining them), but I'm still pretty sure the average La Liga team could play the average Premier League team off the park. Athletic Bilbao are 14th in LL. Sunderland are 14th in the PL. Ignoring the fact I'm a Newcastle fan, that's a bit of a gap. |
apert
01.10.13 | have you not seen torres at Chelseas? he's been consistently shit. He may have been near Villa when he was at Liverpool, but even then he was never as good as Villa. |
VheissuCrisis
01.10.13 | Villa. But for a brief period where Torres was at Liverpool, and he was playing with inferior players week in week out and still performing incredibly well they were probably even. |
defjaw83
01.10.13 | Id' have to take Torres when he had that extra yard of pace a few years back, but that's gone now so I'd def go with Villa. It always helps being in the Barca team mind you |
T5Cx
01.10.13 | Right now, Villa. Even after his leg break, which usually changes a player, he is still excellent. Although, as a Liverpool supporter I will always be a fan of Torres. Back when he played for us he was brilliant. It's unfortunate that he's had such a bad time at Chelsea, he just looks unhappy all the time. I don't believe that he is past it yet, I think his problem is psychological and that Chelsea just isn't the right club for him. |
cirq
01.10.13 | i dont even think it should be a debate. i jumped torres and want to argue that david villa is the best spanish striker of all time. and yes, better than raul |
InfamousGrouse
01.10.13 | Villa but now they're both kinda lame I guess. |

01.10.13 | David Villa
they're both way past their primes though

I agree but the sun's strongest argument to support this was that wayne rooney, the epl's "leading star" or something, only got 8 votes for the ballon d'or
which is just dumb |

01.10.13 | the Premier League is still arguably the most exciting soccer league in the world, it is for me anyway. I prefer La Liga and Bundesliga but there are just so many juicy matchups in English soccer. And the fan obsession with gossip and transfer rumours only makes it ten time better, let's be honest here. |
Gwyn.
01.10.13 | Villa |
anarchistfish
01.10.13 | It's still a fantastic league but the english teams' performances in the champions league this season has just showed up how they've fallen behind over the past few years |
Fortheloveofmusic
01.11.13 | I think the English league is probably the most exciting, but nowhere near the highest quality. It's only exciting because it's so unpredictable. And I hate the argument that La Liga is only a two team race. In the past decade 3 different teams have won La Liga compared to 4 different teams in the Premier League. Personally, my favorite league is the Serie A. It's almost as unpredictable as the Premier League, but with much higher quality and tactics.
As for Villa and Torres, Villa no question. He's more adaptable as he can play on the wing or in the middle. And he's always had goals in him, I can't really think of a time where he's gone through a slump. Recently, Torres has been one big slump with some false hope thrown in.
|
Fortheloveofmusic
01.11.13 | As a matter of fact, Villa just scored two great goals today during the Copa Del Ray. One was great footwork and a great finish, while the second was just a clinical finish. |

01.11.13 | "It always helps being in the Barca team mind you"
he's only been there for a couple of years. villa is the spearhead of the best national team of this generation and was a big loss (well sort of) during the euros. torres was so crap that they elected to play without a center forward half the time (I know he also won golden boot in that tournament). |
cirq
01.11.13 | yea but he won the golden boot cuz he scored 2 against ireland and 1 in garbage time v italy |
Keyblade
01.11.13 | zackly. he actually has a half decent scoring record in the past year or so. but pretty much all of those goals came against poor opposition. |
