[Hip-hop. Justification: it's telling that the multitude of reviews that refer to this as 'lyrical' very quote lyrics from it. That's because it's not lyrical in a poetic sense, exactly. The lyrics function to provide an accumulative, whole-is-more-than-the- sum-of-its-parts effect. And while this contributes to the story-telling quality of the album, it also renders it more John Grisham than John Steinbeck. I still like both but come on]
