Fortheloveofmusic 12.26.12	Seriously, I grew up in a theatre family so I was really familiar with the show. And it completely surpassed my expectations.

[Spoiler Alert?] I mean, she dies about 45 minutes into it. But still, an amazing performance. I'd be shocked if she didn't get an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Fortheloveofmusic 12.27.12	They don't even have accents most of the time. There is close to no dialogue an it's not customary to sing with an accent in a show. The only people who keep their accents are Sacha Baren Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter, and those accents are French.

XingKing 12.28.12	Honestly, I wasn't very impressed by Les Miserables. It was about a 6.5/10 for me and the movie felt like it lasted forfuckingever. Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe have excellent voices though. Why did Crowe get all the cool songs?

JakeStallion 12.28.12	My high school actually did Les Mis back in May and I performed in it. It was pretty awesome. Most of the kids in the cast and I went to see it Wednesday night and I thought it was pretty decent.

DamnVanne 12.28.12	This was my first time seeing any Les Miserables production and I had really high hopes for the story. The first half was fantastic, but almost everything turned to shit when Marius did a double take for the rich blonde girl. The love story ruined the awesome tale of Valjean's (spelling?) redemption, his contest with Javer, and the French Revolution. I'm told the book and stage production make a better love story, but the film's connection between Marius and Cosette was Twilight caliber stupid.

Fortheloveofmusic 12.28.12	DamnVanne: The movie stays really close to the original musical, the love story is a big part. And it's segue to get Valjean involved in the revolution. He'd just keep running if he hadn't tried to save Marius in order to Cosette happy.
DamnVanne 12.28.12	But Valjean had no involvement in the Revolution, in this movie at least. And fetching Marius may have saved his life (let's just forget that his master plan was to drag a man with an open wound through a tunnel full of human shit), but it hardly carried any dramatic weight when the two fell in love at first sight and then spoke once. It was akin to Valjean buying the doll for Cosette when she was a child; shallow and childish satisfaction, hardly worth risking his life for.
