Top 10 Albums Of 2012

There is probably still dozens of fantastic records from this year that I have not listened to yet but these are still all super good records.r+++ The list is not really "the best" albums, it's just the ones I'm most attached to; you know, the ones I've been binge-listening and associate with the good times I've had this year :)
1Jack White
Blunderbuss

His first solo record is more a victory lap in his songwriting abilities than anything. You'll find both the garage blues punk of the stripes, soul, traditional blues and rock but the songs are so strong that the genre they are catalyzed through matters little.
2Aesop Rock
Skelethon

It's been 5 years since his last release but anyone should forgive him for taking so long because all of these tracks are perefct and ripe. Fans of his litteral songs and his surreal songs alike rejoice; Hip-Hop album of the year!
3Dirty Projectors
Swing Lo Magellan

The Projectors may not have pushed genres or even their own sound as much as many people had hoped with this album but their songwriting is still inspired, evocative and super catchy!
4Ty Segall Band
Slaughterhouse

My fav of Ty Segall's 3 album releases in 2012. His chemestry with his touring band just cannot be beat. I also have a theory that the fact that Mikal Cronin plays bass and does backing vocals is what makes all of these songs extra catchy. Energetic!
5Lee Ranaldo
Between the Times and the Tides

Another solo debut with super strong songs. Most of these songs are a bit gloomy but never depressing and always as addictive as most great pop-tunes.
6The Shins
Port of Morrow

I'm so glad James Mercer gave into his flair for pop and ditched some of his allconsuming pensiveness. Light-hearted songs but, still, with a lot of heart!
7 Christian Hjelm
F?r Vi Blev Lette

Danish album of the year. It's basically Figurines mixed with 80's pop; in terms of melody and lyrics rather than sound. You won't find any synth-haze or reverberated drums on this record but it still tastes nostalgic.
8Cannibal Corpse
Torture

Still going strong(-er than ever?)
9The Men
Open Your Heart

Sticking it to the man, dreams of being a rockstar, primal energy, riffs. What's not to like?
10Frank Ocean
Channel Orange

The hype that this has gotten worries me. It's a fantastic record but you have to be alone and kind of blue for it to really get to you so... are all music critics really this miserable?
