12.05.12 | i'd like to help you man but i dont know how :[ |
Vakarian12
12.05.12 | errmmm, does html work? |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | Yeah dude who fuckin knows if you even can? no way to understand how this site handles that. Maybe throw some HTML breaks in there but apart from that I'd have no idea. Still can't even edit shit in chrome without it breaking. |
8bit
12.05.12 | I don't know man, you might have to write the descriptions just long enough that the links are right beneath the paragraph. I've had this problem with lists, plus with a list that I constantly have to edit for Canadian Sputnikers, I always get rrrrrrrrrrrr's in my description after editing lol |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | Yeah those rrrrrrr's suck.
I might try that, 'cos currently it looks like:
band description band description band description band description band description band description band description youtube.com/sgdgfh youtube.com/fsdgjnj youtube.com/unfsien |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | Except even worse than that |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | I want it to look like
band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description band description
youtube.com

Polyethylene
12.05.12 | That was awful satisfying, but it didn't solve my problem |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | So was that |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | Good kitty |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | Hey Poly, just an idea, but maybe you could use something like
---------------------------------------------------------------------
to force a line break? It will read as one word so it will force itself onto a new line and won't break itself, and it will also force the URL onto a new line if you get the length right.
It will also separate the stuff somewhat cleanly with the dashes replacing an empty line. |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | That's a good idea, cheers dude. I'll do some trial and error :) |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | I could even just tell people the names of the songs and get them to Youtube them, that'll make the chance of them actually listening to them drop but it'll save all this hassle sheesh goddamnit |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | why would it stretch the page? the ----... part should just move to a new line when its length reaches the end of the max length of the current line. then you make the -------... long enough so that when you add the URL (after a space of course), the URL won't fit on that line and it will get bumped down to a new line as well, making your description separated by a line of dashes, followed by a URL. |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | oh word saw the "nvm" after my reply. |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | The lines aren't a set amount of characters though are they? with typewriter fonts they would be (like in notepad), but on here a line of
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
is different than
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | Haha that's pretty standard though, sites don't use typewriter fonts because they're typically uglier. But yeah the fact that line breaks don't work, editing breaks albums with apostrophes and adds "r"s out of nowhere, editing in chrome breaks shit, etc. etc. is insane. |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | yeah I've already seen the review. lolol too funny man. |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | tight |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | I don't think it's an oversight at all, the lines break because they reach the end of the containing box. It IS a fixed width, just not a fixed number of characters. That's how line breaks work on pretty much every website, word processor, etc. It doesn't have anything to do with how many characters there are, only with how long the line is. Otherwise you would have lines that were randomly shorter than others UNLESS you used a font with a fixed width for all characters. But most fonts that are easiest to read (arial, helvetical, etc.) don't do that. |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | So I think I'll just post the list and instead of links I'll just name the songs, yeah? If anybody is really interested they'll hopefully bother to look them up |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | I mean sure if you want. I'd be way more likely to go to your actual youtube links though personally. A list like that interests me but it's just too much work to have to hunt down each individual track, where going to a quick link is pretty easy to hear what the track has to offer. |
Polyethylene
12.05.12 | Okay, I'm still trying to figure out how to include the links then. ------------- is going to be long and tedious, I could still do it though if I could be bothered go and adding or subtracting ----s until they're all lined up and sweet.
Anybody who knows how this website goddamn works reading this? Staff? Anyone? |
TMobotron
12.05.12 | Why does it have to be lined up and sweet? Can't you just find out what length fits perfectly to one line and paste that?
I'm not trying to suggest you put it at the end of any line, the dashes should be their own line, and they should take it up entirely. Then the URL should be on the next one. That way, the number of dashes should be constant I would think? |
