TheSupernatural
11.29.12 | This doesn't mean this stuff is shocking or horrifying to listen to... just a genuine feeling a fear that I get from listening to it. It's usually a mild feeling, but it's one hell of a rush in a weird way. Thoughts? Recs? |

11.29.12 | The scariest moment for me that still gets me even after 20+ listens is Brand New's Luca. I think that spacing out moment where the music suddenly jumps in front of you is great. |

11.29.12 | ^well played? |

11.29.12 | The only music I remember being scary right now was Give Life by The Number Twelve Looks Like You. I was high as fuck and laying on my bed late at night at my parent's house staring at the crucifix above my bed, once I got till the last part/riff of the song I started getting creeped out, mostly to the lyrics beforehand and the effect they had on my thoughts along with that part; Mostly my fear of death at that moment. |
HitlerIsPissed
11.29.12 | Lustmord, Gnaw Their Tongues, and Portal are the only 3 bands ive ever heard that actually disturbed me on some level. of course you have to allow yourself to get really into it and the setting has to be right. |
Brontosaurus
11.29.12 | thank god im not the only one that thinks luca is heart stopping |

11.29.12 | Haha I listen to Luca so loud in the car, when in jumps back in it scares the shit out of me, that part is so good though. |
SgtPepper
11.29.12 | I once heard "Revolution 9" by The Beatles backwards, and in the dark. That I have to say was pretty creepy. |

11.29.12 | One time I fell asleep listening to The Wall and I woke to "is there anybody... OUT THERE" and I woke up shouting into the night. That's the best I got. |

11.29.12 | i had vaguely cool parents who used to get high and listen to good music. when we got our first cd player/entertainment system my dad used to turn the lights off and play black sabbath's eponymous song on full blast and it was scary for some reason. |

11.29.12 | i know i'm whoring this out, but seriously this fits what you're looking for intriket.bandcamp.com/album/the-woods
it's an album about fear, basically. the title track, oh man, it has some sampled dialogue from the film Antichrist and it's so unsettling.
"The woods? what scares you about the woods? what frightens you?"
".....everything"
====> huuuuuuuuuuuge hit of deep, dark bass.
haunting and absolutely immense. my musical moment of the year I think. check the album out dude, it's all wrapped up in the concept of fear. |

11.29.12 | Intriguing list man. I always thought about this, and maybe some albums can play out like a horror film without being jumpy or traditionally scary. Effective horror films use more mood and tension anyway. One of my favorite albums is The Prayer Chain's Mercury. It uses a lot of eerie sounds and creates atmosphere that is at the very least unsettling. Good list. |
Polyethylene
11.29.12 | Fantomas, their album Delirium Cordia is the most terrifying thing I've ever heard. Top 5 album for sure.
Definitely agree with Swans being there, music that sounds really psychotic and detached too (like Idiot Flesh) |

11.29.12 | @Skweetis Kid A doesn't frighten me, it's just a couple songs (mostly How to Disappear Completely) than make me feel like I'm alone on an island in the middle of winter, freezing to death. Music rarely affects me that way.
And everything I've listened to by Swans makes me feel like I've gotten myself into a mess I can't escape. It's weird. |

11.30.12 | ^^^^ Yes, Geogaddi. I genuinely fear for my sanity in songs like The Devil Is In The Details, phwoar.
Also agree on the feelings of intense isolation in Kid A, when that album is playing the rest of the world really doesn't exist
And check out Delirium Cordia everyone, I emplore you |
