| Shoegaze (and Some Other Kinds Of Gazing)
im just going to name a few shoegaze bands that are worth looking up,
these aren't in any particular order. | 1 | My Bloody Valentine
Obviously had to put this band on here due to the fact that they are one of the
most well known shoegaze bands, and are pretty damn good, asuming your into the
genre. Definitely recommended. | 2 | Have a Nice Life
This might be my favorite of the bands on this list. I really like the darker sound
that they have, which some have described as "doomgaze". The lead singer, Dan
Barrett has a side project called Giles Corey, which is worth checking out of you like
this band. | 3 | The Jesus and Mary Chain
This band rocks pretty hard, a lot more than most of the shoegaze bands out
there. They are more noise rock than shoegaze, but a lot of people put them in this
category, and when you listen to them you can probably understand why. They are
alright, i don't listen to them too often. | 4 | Codeine
This band is more of a slowcore band, but they have some aspects of shoegaze,
and i really enjoy this band. They are very mellow, which i tend to appreciate more. | 5 | Galaxie 500
They are pretty similar to MBV, they are really good also, but i wouldn't say as
good as MBV. They are definitely worth it to listen to though, their album On Fire is
very good. | 6 | Slowdive
Yet another big name in shoegaze, their album Souvlaki is absolutely amazing, at
least i think it is, but music is very subjective, so "to each their own". I would
highly recommend checking this band out. | 7 | Ride
Their album Nowhere is quite a popular shoegaze album and worth the listen, but
they certainly aren't the best shoegaze band, but they are still good, and should
definitely be listened to, just to get a better feel for the genre. | 8 | The Radio Dept.
This is more of a dream pop band, but then again, dream pop and shoegaze are
very closely related. Most of the music this band comes out with seems to be
happier, so if you're into that, then i would recommend listening to this band. | 9 | The Brain Jonestown Massacre
Their first album is a very good shoegaze album, after that, they became more
pyschedelic. The album Methodrone is a very good example of shoegaze, as well as
just a really good album, i would recommend the listen, and if you're into
pyschedelic music, then check out their other albums. | 10 | Spacemen 3
This band is extremely good in my opinion, they are more of a space rock band, but
they definitely have shoegaze aspects in their music, this is one of the first bands
that helped get me into shoegaze, this band and Have a Nice Life, i had heard
Loveless by MBV before, but I didn't really care for it until i started listening to
Spacemen 3 and Have a Nice Life. | |

10.26.12 | Other Shoegaze bands worth listening to: LSD and the Search for God, Flying Saucer Attack, The Horrors, Cocteau Twins (I don't like this band, i just felt like i should mention it for being a fairly well known shoegaze band), and Spiritualized.
I would like to say that not all of the bands on the list are pure shoegaze, they just have some of the elements of shoegaze and are certainly related. | Funeralopolis

10.26.12 | The list wouldn't be complete without JMC and I haven't heard of Amusement Parks on Fire before, but i will certainly check them out. | Foaming
10.26.12 | Devics should be on the list too. | SmurkinGherkin
10.26.12 | Cool, been meaning to get some more shoegaze. Recently 5'd Slouvlkai, album is just perfect. | WeepingBanana
